I am a Christian. Lately I have been in a situation where I am called to bless / pray before individuals or groups, prior to a meal. Audiences are not my forte. In these situations I can sometimes have a tendency sort of “forget” how to pray, or it generally comes out not so great. Anyway… I am on the lookout for any prayer recommendations or classic meal prayers etc, that I could use in such situations, whether it be on a date or in a small group. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

The most popular prayer before meals seems to be:

Bless us O Lord, and these your gifts,
which we are about to receive,
from your bounty, through Christ, Our Lord.
Amen.

Another simple prayer before meals is:

God is great, God is good.
Let us thank Him for our food.
Amen.

If you like to stretch people's minds a bit, try:

God is great, God is good.
Let us thank Her for our food.
Amen.

With love in Christ.

Welcome to moslem! Here is the prayer, I would write it not in Arabic so you wont try so harder to read it :) "Allahuma bariklana fimma rozaktana wa kinna adza bannar" Means: Allah the greatest, give your blessing to these meal and may these meal made me stay away from the heat of hell. Or if u still get some problems with remain it, just dont forget the Basmallah before you eat, and Alhamdulillah after you eat. Good Luck! Wishing you the best, key!

Matthew6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Pray what is in your heart.
What may not appear to be "eloquent" to man is GLORY to God.
A prayer does not have to be long, nor should it just be something that is said according to "script".
The "event" is a meal....it is a time for THANKSgiving.

Have a wonderful tomorrow.

Come, Lord Jesus
Be our (my) guest. Let this daily
food be blessed. Amen.

Either way, as long as you pray with a sincere heart, no matter how funny or strange you think it might come out, God hears and it is OKAY!!!!

Heavenly father, we come to you asking in your almighty name that you bless this food that were about to recieve. Let it nourish or bodies and give us the energy to do your perfect will. In Jesus' name, amen.

There- simple and from the heart.

Oh, and just to give a sense of great accomplishment to the person who prepared the food, tell them how good it tastes after the first bite!

For tiny tots --Jesus Wept-- shortest verse in the bible!

Break it into pieces:

1- Father God we invite You to our table

2- Thank You for these blessings that You have placed before us.

3- Help us to be ever mindful that we do not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from Your mouth.

4- In Thy Son Jesus' mighty name we pray.

Amen

Don't thank god, thank the person who cooked the meal hahaha. Don't pray before a meal (or ever, actually). Religion is lame, god doesn't exist, and anyone who follows a religion is seriously dillusional
