i like in uk, and nobody here really gives two hoots about religion, ....which makes me wonder why america is so christian.
is it because they are all as thick as ****?

America isn't as Christian as Christians want everyone to believe. Honestly! They are kidding themselves that they are in the majority. Most of us also don't give a hoot about religion but Christians are trying to make everyone believe this country was founded as a Christian country. Hah! The founding fathers would roll over in their graves to hear that since most of them came here to have freedom of religious choice AND allow the same for everyone else rather than have a state religion. Today's Christians seem to think they are a huge majority and have the right (and the responsibility!) to tell everyone what to do and have it mandated by the governement which is strictly against the constitution which they forgot I guess!!

Because America was founded by mostly Christians. The Pilgrims came here as missionaries to convert the Indians to Christianity, (not for religious freedom, as our history books tells us- read the the Mayflower Compact)
The men who wrote our Constitution were largely Christians, and based it on the Bible. The first person they hired when they started Congress was a chaplain to pray. Nearly all of the first 100 colleges started in this country were begun as seminaries to train young men and women for to be ministers of the gospel and missionaries.
It's too bad that the UK abandoned its Christian heritage, which made England the greatest nation on the earth for many centuries. King James authorized the printing of the Bible for the masses, and England was ahead of America in banning slavery because of Christian William Wilberforce, who in conjunction with John Newton, who also became a Christian worked hard to abolish it.
Most of America has forgotten that we were originally established by Christians, and are seeking to abolish its Christian heritage, which will eventually send us into socialism and bring about the downfall of America. We see that Europe is now being overrun with Islamic immigrants, and without a strong Christian base to fight back, they will eventually be overrun by the Islam. I fear the same for America, someday, unless they go back to Christian roots, which tell us that God made ALL men equal, and that we are given inalienable rights by God. Those rights disappear when we throw God out of the picture. It becomes survival of the fittest.

Because religion is Big Business in America. Religious organizations get tax-free status in this country. Also, while food producers and pharmaceutical companies have to meet stringent government regulations regarding their products, the Elmer Gantries of our society can spew out any supernatural nonsense without having to back it up with any proof whatsoever...

I know. I"m in uk as well. I was amazed when i first used this and saw how religious many Americans are. It"s like stepping back in to the dark ages some of the things i read on here lol

Despite their Constitution, the church interferes with the state (education) way too much and the end result is a country that is second lowest in acceptance of evolution.
