2,000 years, huh? Seems like the guy's running a little late. Or perhaps some people (ie Christians) can't get the hint when they're being blown off, hmmmm....

I don't hate your god, I just don't believe in it or anybody else's gods. Why is it that after all this time you just can't 1: understand that concept, and 2: leave us the hell alone about it? I don't really care what your beliefs are, just keep them away from me and we'll all be just fine. Sheesh!

ADDENDUM: Another thing - I am SO SICK of hearing people harp on and on about how people like me don't believe in their god because they're afraid of accountability and consequences. It's hands down one of the stupidest and most narrow-minded things I've heard in my life.

If I wrong somebody, I'm accountable TO THEM, RIGHT HERE AND NOW! I don't need the threat of some punishment by some invisible sky-daddy for my actions after my death, long after I've committed them, because I take responsibility for my actions NOW! If I hurt someone, then I need to right the wrong and seek THEIR forgiveness for my actions, and if I can't obtain it for one reason or the other, that's my burden of guilt to bear FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. I don't get the religious equivalent of a 'get out of jail free' card, because I don't have the cop-out of claiming some carpenter's son died 2000 years ago to excuse all the wrongs I've done. It'd be a whole lot easier if I could 'plead the blood of Jesus' and fool myself into no longer worrying about what I've done in the past. Much, much easier, in fact. And the above idiot claims that I'm denying my intelligence!

Yes, this means I don't have a big old book full of silly rules to follow lest I hurt the feelings of some omnipotent deity - so what? If I'm not hurting a non-consenting other person, then I'm not really doing anything wrong, and I don't really care what your religion thinks about that. I do my level best to not be a dick, and to treat everybody the way I want to be treated - and if that's not good enough, then too bad, because that's the best I can do.

-- Sorry for the rant, that just really, really gets to me. I don't have any problems with your god(s)....I think it's more the stupidity and thick-headedness of their followers I have beef with, as shown brilliantly by oremus_fratres.

You know, usually I don't accuse people of bieng wrapped in a fairy tale, but if you decide that the better way of getting information is to tell people what you think they believe, rather than asking them, then you would be getting pretty close to the line.
In other words, atheists don't hate your Lord.

You do realize that for a good deal of those 2,000 years a good chunk, not the minority, as is the case in Islam today, but a good chunk of those who follow your Lord, largely spurred on by the church itself, were mass-murdering anyone who had other views? Seems to me your question is a little lacking.

Just becasue I don't believe the way you do doesn't mean that I hate. What a vile thing to assume about someone. Why not exercize some of the acceptance and understanding your so-called savior did?

Well, I ran out of other hobbies you see...

No, seriously though, I don't hate your God; I really really really don't like his followers.

But other than that, I agree most everyone else on here; you can't hate something that doesn't exist.

There is no reason to hate atheists. They have no emotions toward a God since they do not believe that God exists.

John 12:37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
John 12:38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
John 12:39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
John 12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

atheists don't hate your lord. they don't even believe he exists, hasn't ever existed. what atheists hate is the willful ignorance and arrogant stupidity that is engendered by religion.

as an agnostic i can relate to such feelings.

Yes, the Christian persecution complex does have long and complicated diagnostic history and is often made more challenging by the degree of fantasy it involves.
