I have noticed that ALL mormons that i encounter misquote or twist biblical text for their own advantage? Such as Acts 3:19-21
The context in which it is presented shows Peter and John speaking in the temple after having healed a lame man. The text in question was referring to Jesus and it was a message to the people standing in the courtyard to become Christ's followers. I dont think that it was meant that a NEW prophet was to come after.

The scriptures record that Jesus when into the synagogue in his home town and read from the Prophets. When he finished, he announced that the scripture had now been fulfilled. The Jews in the congregation were aghast that He would 'twist' the meaning of scripture and take it out of the context they understood. He was just the carpenter's son.

To readers of the New Testament, it makes perfect sense. Like so many passages, the prophets foretold of Christ and His life, death and resurrection. So it is with the restored Church. We plainly see scripture in the context of continuing revelation. To you it 'twists' because you can't see any other meaning than the one at surface. There is no misquoting involved when we both look at the same words but see things through our own lens.

People--all people--are notorious for twisting scripture. The Mormons do this to line things up with the Book of Mormon, which they consider a holy text that supersedes the Old and New Testaments.

That particular story was not meant to represent a new prophet.

Mormonism is a cult.
Some of the major differences in their beliefs:

The Traditional Christian Christ

Eternally God

Only God

Creator of All Things

Begotten Miraculously, of the Holy Spirit

Not Married

Atoned for Sin by Death on the Cross

Justifies the Ungodly

Offers Full Salvation Unconditionally

The Mormon Christ
Not Always God, Became a God
One of Many Gods
Was Created; Spirit Brother of Lucifer
Begotten Sexually, by God the Father
Requires Godliness before Justification
Married with Children
Atoned by Sweating Blood in Gethsemane
Offers Full Salvation Only on Conditions

Every religion interprets scripture according to its own understanding. Just as you claim that Mormons "twist" the scriptures, others could say that you "twist" scriptures to match your preconceived notions. It's much more productive to simply acknowledge that different people interpret the Bible differently, rather than accusing other groups of intentional misinterpretation.

Jesus warned us that “false Christs and false prophets” will come and will attempt to deceive even God’s elect (Matthew 24:23-27; see also 2 Peter 3:3 and Jude 17-18). To best guard yourself against falsehood and false teachers - know the truth. To spot a counterfeit, study the real thing. Any believer who is, “rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15), and who makes a careful study of the Bible, can identify false doctrine.

Believers of all denominations and faiths are generally guilty of misquoting scripture. Very few believers are true students of scripture and how to properly interpret it. Too many rely on their favorite religious leader to do it for them and they get led astray.

What does it matter to you, or anyone else what someone believes.
Does it put your life in danger?
Is your world going to end because they think differently than you do?
Concentrate on your own tenets, and leave others to theirs.
Each religion has some strange or weird thing in its doctrine, they are not any different.
LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!

All Religions "twist" the scriptures to support whatever they believe.

It's all interpretation....including the Mormons.

I have also noticed that JW's leave out verses of the bible. so they also twist and even omit parts of the bible to suit their advantage.

Don't all denominations of Christianity do that? They twist things around to fit their own personal beliefs?
