if I chop the tree down and nail two pieces of it together in the shape of a lower case letter t, and then worship that, it is considered perfectly normal.

Worship a tree !
The only thing we're to worship Is God and Him alone.
You're making an Idol for yourself.
In the Bible they were told to tear down graven Images or anything that Is erected for Idol worship.
God Is a jealous God and His word says to have no other gods before Me.
Do not mock what you don't understand.
God will not be mocked.

It's not crazy. Actually people worship all kinds of things, their cars, their girlfriends, their houses, their status, their looks. I think actually worshipping a tree would be better, because God actually made that tree, and by appreciating it's beauty, you are appreciating its creator. Then maybe you can begin to focus on the creator and not the creation. And as for the cross thing, I never understood anyone wanting an instrument of torture and death hanging around their necks.

I understand you completely. Human being have this crappy idea that their faith is better than others and try to convince them otherwise. Do me a favor, worship anything you want, privately or publicly. Yes, you might face disrespectful behavior from ignorant and close-minded people, but you must stand your ground.

why cant u beleive in something eternal, one can destroy the letter t u have made. worship something which is always there and that is Allah (S.w.t). some ppl say that god does not exist because they cant see it and the same time they beleive that there is evil becuase of satan. why, do u see satan every day? does he have breakfast with you, in the same way why cant one belive that God exists. why do u want to worship the creation when u can worship the creator

That would seem normal to you? I think the abnormality is your own.
I take my sins to the cross, I don't worship it. I am a Christian, you have me confused with a Pagan. They make idols out of logs, not us.

A tree would be an idol , just as other things worshipped are idols , such as statutes of mary etc

People don't worship a cross, they just use it as a symbol to denote their faith. I wouldn't care if you worshipped a tree though.
