I haven"t but i"m wondering how those stones got there. It seems a mysterious and magical place. I know people go there for the solstices.

then why didn't everyone receive that right from the start?

In colonial America Quakers and Catholics did not have religious freedom; so how can one say that is what this country was based upon?

Okay, to anyone with an objective sense of history and an understanding of the evolution of knowledge, we know that the concept of god is dying a quick death. Okay. What now? We can't base our beliefs on what we do not believe.

What do you see as the next evolution of religion? Now that god is dead (or dying) will some other "higher power" replace it? Without texts, how will we discuss morality? Is dogma neccessary?

My question is why did Christians of the past take the religion "Peganism" and claim it as their own and then kill off the Pegans? Was this to eliminate any proof of the stealing of their religion? Why do a majority of the population now claim Christianity as the major religion when in reality it's not even the Christians religion? Is it just me or does religion seem more like a reason to start wars and fights than to actually find true peace and harmony? All I've really ever seen from religion is war and anger toward other religions and non-believers. To me religion divides us from one another and groups us instead of uniting us as one. If religion is the path to true happiness how come their is so much anger and hatred toward other religions and religious factors? I'd like to end my question/ rant with a quote "when one person suffers from a delusion it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called religion."

he left it up to fallible men to write the bible?

Luke 1:1-3
1Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, 2Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; 3It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, (KJV)

Nothing about being filled with the spirit of God either before or while he wrote, he simply says that others had written accounts of the life of Jesus so he thought it might be a good idea if he wrote something also. If he really was inspired by God to write the Gospel why didn't he say so?

...where I live, it is ILLEGAL for me to hold public office, for no other reason than the fact that I'm an atheist.

Does this seem fair or reasonable to you?

**Please Read**
Let's say that God will only verbally answer your question. So don't write any requests or favors or anything like that. Just pose a question that you always wanted to be answered. If you are an Athiest then ask as if you did believe in God.

I've been wanting to know a good modern time, or practical explaination of the book of Revelation. Asking for a better explaination of the whole Bible might be a bit too much and I will probably feel less of a need to ever read the Bible again.

I also was interested in what the Angels shouted in Revelation 10 and what they told John to keep secret.

Is this like a rain dance?
Is it a reminder to their god that they need rain? Are they afraid he's forgotten, or that he might be angry at them and withholding the rain as a form of punishment?

I am still young, but i am an Atheist all the way..

When i have kids, I really don't want them to live their
life like there is a God and be brainwashed saints that
never live life to its fullest with so many boundaries that effect their morals and values.

Here is the real question.. Do i take them to church every Sunday hoping they will rebel sooner or later... OR ...Do i
tell them there is no God and hope they don't listen to some
religious freak.

If they have little knowledge about God.. i'm afraid they are
inclined to be swayed by a church go-er.
BUT
I don't want them going to church and believing all their life :/

I KNOW it's their decision.. but i am trying to help them here..

What do you think? (mainly directed towards fellow atheists, but all answers are welcome)

This seems to be a very touchy subject for many folks
these days. A lot of preachers have been under the
gun lately for talking about prosperity. Which does not
always mean money, but an abundance of every aspect
in one's life. Now some say it is not for everyone to
hear. And there are others who say that it is wrong for
a preacher to be positive, when there is sin in the land.
Then you get the Hellfire and Brimstone sermon, all
the other days.... But I find that many Christains lack
motivation, and is need for inspiration. And that is
where prosperity comes in. Only the good apples get
mixed up with the bad. I don't think the CHURCH, should
be held accountable for preaching about prosperity.
In the end we all will be judged. So what do you think ?
Is it wrong, for preachers to preach about prosperity ?

What makes you think atheists would attribute it to YOUR religion's god?

As opposed to the other several thousand with equal proof of existence?

(I personally would see it as an act of Marduk. So there.)
