Christians will not accept the BoM as revelation because it means for one they have to admit that they were wrong and they lied about a prophet, two they would have to read it, three they would have to admit that there were other people in this world beside those in the Middle East and that Christ went to them as well.
But what I am tired off is seeing how many people quote Revelations, 22:18-19
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of THIS book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in THIS book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the BOOK of THIS prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
He was talking about the book of Revelations not the entire Bible, considering the Bible hadn't been put together yet. If he would have said the same thing in Matthew would we have the rest of the New Testament? Or what about the Books of the Old Testament? Let us not forget that the Bible is made up of 66 Books, and again reread were he says "BOOK of THIS prophecy"

Elder Bruce McConkie on those who reject the Book of Mormon:
"Strange as it may seem to present day enemies of the truth, their very opposition to the receipt of more of the word of the Lord by way of the Book of Mormon is one of the signs of the times. Their opposition, summarised in the canting chant, 'A Bible! A Bible! We have got a Bible, and there cannot be any more Bible,' brings forth this severe rebuke from the Lord: 'Thou fool, that shall say: A Bible, we have got a Bible, and we need no more Bible...Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word?'
=============================================
about not seeing the brass plates, i guess it's not so much seeing an actual evidence of it that will make someone believe that it's true. no one has seen the tablets that Moses received at Mount Sinai when the Lord revealed the ten commandments, yet some of us try our hardest to follow those. for mysef, it's what the Holy Ghost testifies to you to be true. i have read the Book of Mormon, and yes, it did soften my heart and made me come to a realisation that God loves me indeed. at the end of the day, seeing aint believing. so stop the 'no evidence whatsoever' rubbish.

Since you should know what you are talking about, why don't you read the Book of Mormon before you say anything about it?
To educate myself, I have read the entire Koran and whatever you call the books that the Hare Krishnas give you. I have even read the books of the Apocrypha. Not because I am not sure of my faith, but b/c I love to know what other people are talking about.
I have books that are of use in other religions because I am interested in what other people know--I have all the books that I studied when I was Lutheran. I have a lot of Catholic books b/c I love the music. (THey have guitar chords in their hymn books!)
I have read the entire Bible, cover to cover, and I feel that the Book of Mormon supplements the Bible entirely and is a witness to the truth of Jesus Christ.
I love it--I have a night job and I bring my BOM tapes to listen to at work.

Oh, that's easy. It was prophesied this would happen. Not to offend anyone, but the same reason many of the Jews rejected Christ as the Saviour of the world. Pride is blinding, and tradition of fathers dig deep.
Here, 2 Nephi: 29:6-11 I'll write for those who sadly do not own a BoM, though you really should.
6. Thou fool, that shall say: A Bible, we have got a Bible, and we need no more Bible. Have ye obtained a Bible save it were by the Jews?
7. Know ye not that there are more nations than one? Know ye not that I, the Lord your God, have created all men, and that I remember those who are upon the isles of the sea; and that I rule in the heavens above and in the earth beneath; and I bring forth my word unto the children of men, yea, even upon all the nations of the earth?
8. Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word? Know ye not that the testimony of two nations is a witness unto you that I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another? Wherefore, I speak the same words unto one nation like unto another. And when the two nations shall run together the testimony of the two nations shall run together also.
9. And I do this that I may prove unto many that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and that I speak forth my words according to mine own pleasure. and because that I have spoken one word ye need not suppose that I cannot speak another; for my work is not yet finished; neither shall it be until the end of man, neither from that time henceforth and forever.
10. Wherefore because that ye have a Bible ye need not suppose that it contains all my words; neither need ye suppose that I have not caused more to be written.
11. For I command all men, both in the east and in the west, and in the north, and in the south, and in the islands of the sea, that they shall write the words which I speak unto them; for out of the books which shall be written I will judge the world, every man according to their works, according to that which is written.
This isn't condemning the Bible, it is adding to the power of God. Read it again. I can only repeat it, God is the same yesterday today and forever. He cares for ALL men. The people of the Book of Mormon are his 'other sheep'. (John 10:16)
The Book of Mormon is the BOM!!

I suspect you got your eyes and ears full of answers on this. In the Book of Deuteronomy, Moses gives the warning not to add to or detract from the words of the book. Nobody seems worried about that not meaning the entire Bible. When John basically said the same thing as Moses, people got all concerned that he meant the entire Bible and not just the words of his own particular revelation. The Bible did not exist when John wrote that warning. He had not even written his own gospel account until after the Book of Revelation. Thus, John violated his own warning. It is extremely narrow thinking to believe that the warning in revelation pertains to the entire Bible. You need not suppose that this all that God said or that His work is done. It will not be done until all things are fulfilled and Christ has conquered all evil beneath Him. That means that His work is not done until after the Millenium when Satan is finally conquered and earth becomes the glorious abode of Christ and those that are sealed as His.
For those that claim the plates were made up, you have not read the witness statements in the front of the book. There are two statements, one by the three witnesses that were shown the plates by Moroni, the angel that delivered them in the first place, and the other by eight witnesses that were shown the plates by Joseph Smith. Thus, you have testimony both of heavenly showings and of earthly, temporal showings. One by God and one by man. Those witnesses cannot be discredited in any way. Their testimony stands as permanent witness to the reality of the plates.
Archaeological evidence abounds concerning the cities of the Book of Mormon. Scientists call them the Mayans, Toltecs, Olmecs, etc. Their murals found in the walls of their spectacular buildings depict two peoples living together, one with light skin and one with dark skin. Sometimes the two peoples seem to be getting alone and other times they seem to be subject to each other in varying degrees. This is incontrovertible evidence of the Book of Mormon story.
Spanish Catholic priests found evidence of Christian practices in the Mexican natives. They did not know what to make of it so they did not publish or spread their findings.
One day, the people will all confess that Jesus is the Christ and that He did not lie to anyone. They will then be forced to acknowledge that the words of this book were made available to them and that they rejected it.
Moroni 10:27-30
27 And I exhort you to remember these things; for the time speedily cometh that ye shall know that I lie not, for ye shall see me at the bar of God; and the Lord God will say unto you: Did I not declare my words unto you, which were written by this man, like as one crying from the dead, yea, even as one speaking out of the dust?
28 I declare these things unto the fulfilling of the prophecies. And behold, they shall proceed forth out of the mouth of the everlasting God; and his word shall hiss forth from generation to generation.
29 And God shall show unto you, that that which I have written is true.
30 And again I would exhort you that ye would come unto Christ, and lay hold upon every good gift

The Christians don’t accept the Book of Mormon because according to the Christian faith all revelation ended in the 1st century CE.
The rest of us don’t accept the Book of Mormon ...
Because it says there were horses in America before the conquistadors arrived.
Because it says there was cultivated wheat and grain in America before the settlers arrived.
Because it says 2 million people were killed with Steel swords , 1000 years before steel was invented.
Because none of the cities mentioned in the book can be located.
Because etc etc .
The Book of Mormon has many inconstancies and absurdities , not as many as the Christian Bible so you might expect the Christians to accept it, however because it was written after the end of the period of Revelation , it would be incorrect for a Christian to accept it.

A book has to have certain qualities or pass certain test in order to be put in the Bible, so as not just any thing written can be thrown in. Firstly, and most importantly, a book has to be deemed inspired by God. 2 Tim 3:16 ; but how do you know something written was inpired by God? Church leaders decided by asking if the book floowed the beliefs of the church, demonstrated apostolicity ( requires that authorship by an apostle or by the associate of an apostle), and Universality (accepted by a broad geographical segment of the church). These criteria are known as orthodoxy, apostolicity, and universality.
There are many many acient texts written by early Christian about Jesus that are not included in the Bible, not because they are not accurate (though that may have something to do with it) but because they are not God inspired.
The Book of morman contradicts the Bible, has absolutely NO apostolicity (written over 1500 years after Jesus life, and after all apostles died.) , and although some accept it, it does not have universality.

Are you meaning "evaluation?" The Book of Mormon supports the Bible and is another witness of Christ's divine mission for all mankind. I would think that such information would be valuable to anyone, let alone other Christians.

I think you mean 'revelation', not revaluation. Two very different things. But, in answer to your question, have you actually read the book of Mormon? Complete codswallop. As many others have said, Christians follow Christ, not man.

I'm in agreement with many of the answers here. God knew that there would be people throughout the ages that would *think* or *believe* that they were truly and directly receiving his word. He created the human mind. That is why he had it specifically written that there was to be NO additions to or omissions of the original text. None meant none, not ... with the exception of...
I could break things down to specific points, but in my mind they are all encompassed in the explanation above.
I pray that you find the answers you seek, one way or the other.
Have a wonderful day! =-)
