I know of a handful of missing books such as the Book of Iddo the Seer, several missing letters of Paul and about a dozen other books (not 600!). These are books that the Bible itself refers to. There may be other missing books that are also missing that the Bible simply did not mention and we would not know they are missing.

Yet, if the Bible is missing these books, does that make what we currently have false? If your wife is missing an arm does that mean she is no longer a human being? Of course not. The core teachings of the Bible are repeated over and over again, so even if some books are missing people are not justified in rejecting the truth.

On the History Channel (if not, try Discovery but I think it's the History Channel) this week there has been a programme about the missing content on the Bible. I haven't watched it yet but it's being repeated often, as all shows on those channels are. So take a look at that when it's next on and it will probably answer your question.

Nah.

They just didn't make the final cut. The Bible is like a Reader's Digest - a collection of condensed and edited-for-content passages that are each short enough to be read over the course of a few visists to the restroom. Lot's of writings came up for consideration, but the editors only picked the ones that they felt meshed with the story that they wanted to have out there.

There are many of the old scriptures that were not considered acceptable, parts of genesis for example.I believe the holy book was rewritten in Portugal at a gathering of top church `·people· about 300 years ago, when it was altered and tailored to be more suitable to the then accepted and desired effects. To believe all that man has written ,is to ride the wind.

No, there are many books that some claim are to be associated with Biblical texts but I don't think that number is even 600.

That number is a bit high I think.

There are writings that aren't included, but it didn't paint the same picture as what they were trying to create with the bible.

There are quite a few, not sure if it's 600. The biggest question is why St. Peter's Gospel is absent. I mean, the first Pope, and his version of events was not desirable to the Catholic church.

oh theres a lot more than that...

when the first bible was put together, many book where rejected, edited and even destroyed. proof for this resides in the councils records, and the discovery of the book of judas.
