Sadly there were people who were in this country 1000's of years before white Europeans came over with their imported religions. You may want to ask them?

When Europeans started coming to the New World, they were not coming to protect religious freedom. Those who came for religious reasons were generally looking to practice their own religion freely, not to ensure that everybody else's religions had equal opportunity. Think about the Puritans in what later became Massachusetts, for example.

However, there are plenty of examples of religious tolerance and freedom, although it is questionable whether such tolerance would have been extended to non-Christians. A couple examples regarding Quakers in particular:

Quakers in what later became Pennsylvania did invite some other persecuted Christian groups to come there and practice their religion in peace. And, as a Quaker-founded colony, Quakers certainly did have the freedom to practice their religion themselves.

Citizens of what later became Flushing, NY (in Queens, NYC) stood up to the Dutch governor's insistence that Quakers be turned out of that busy port and in 1657 sent him what is known as the Flushing Remonstrance, basically the first statement of religious freedom in what would later become the US. This country was only founded on freedom for white males only, who started a war when the lives of their loved ones were not at risk at all. It's taken decade after decade to actually get the citizens to follow the Consitution.

It is a lie that was from the start. This nation was founded on Christianity. plain and simple. just take a tour of Washington DC. The place is covered in Christianity. Even the Supreme Court wall behind the Justices, is clear evidence. Some just want to re-write history if it disagrees with their objective.
