Our eyes are the most powerful sense. Where ever there is beauty and contrast our minds in captivated by it. All honest people must admit that a beautiful face captivates the mind.

Our minds fall prey to outer beauty.

Why did God do this to us?

Please don't say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder because Im talking about mathematical proportion that everyone finds beautiful.

Not every thinks Brad pitt is the most handsome guy or that Julia Roberts is the most beautiful women, but they are both very beautiful and cannot be considered ugly unless you are blind.

So why did God created outer beauty to have such a deep impact on us?

...and why did he create unattractive unfortunate face among the beautiful?

It just seems cruel to me.

Please answer with the name e.g. Christian, Muslim, Hindu etc and then say whether you think it is important to have these "tags".
*
I am Christian and go to a Baptist church, but sometimes I think it is a shame that we all have "tags" as these often put people off or cause discontent. What do you think ?
*
STAR the question if you like so that the best answer gets more points :-)

I know that the holy spirit brings a person joy but there is no joy in me. Could this also mean that I am lacking the influence of the holy spirit and, therefore, lacking salvation? The evils of the world pierce me with so many knives that even when I am lucky enough to find an opportunity to fight the forces of darkness (corruption, disease, insanity, devastation, etc), my enthusiasm is powered by sorrow, not joy. I often doubt the existence of God because I can no longer sense his influence within me and or in the world. It has become a dry, objective existence and nothing more. I've already talked to priests, pastors, therapists, family, friends. Problem is, none of them can identify what this stabbing agony is. Have you experienced it? What does this mean? Am I just being foolish?

What does this verse mean to you?
"Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in Heaven."
Matthew 5:16

To me it means that you should use your gifts that God has blessed you with, but not to forget who gave them to you.

What do you think?

Thank you!

So, once again today has been filled with some atheist tooting their own horn, claiming how logical they are. They claim it is their supreme logic that brought them to the conclusion that God does not exist. So a simple logic puzzle should be a breeze after logically deducing that no God exist. Here we go.

Five men are suspects of commiting a crime. Here are their statements.

Andy:
it wasn't Eric
it was Bill

Bill:
it wasn't Chuck
it wasn't Eric

Chuck:
it was Eric
it wasn't Andy

David:
it was Chuck
it was Bill

Eric:
it was David
it wasn't Andy

It was well known that each suspect told exactly one lie. Can you determine who commited the crime?

There is something feeble and a little contemptible about a man who cannot face the perils of life without the help of comfortable myths. Almost inevitably some part of him is aware that they are myths and that he believes them only because they are comforting. But he dares not face this thought! Moreover, since he is aware, however dimly, that his opinions are not rational, he becomes furious when they are disputed.

would you consult 1) an evangelist or 2) an atheist heart surgeon? [don't forget that most scientists believe in macro evolution, so their understanding of the heart is probably faulty too]

Hoover is my Shepherd, I am in want,
He maketh me to lie down on park benches,
He leadeth me by still factories,
He restoreth my doubt in the Republican Party.

He guided me in the path of the
Unemployed for his party's sake,
Yea, though I walk through the alley of soup kitchens,
I am hungry.

I do not fear evil, for thou art against me;
Thy Cabinet and thy Senate, they do discomfort me;
Thou didst prepare a reduction in my wages;
In the presence of my creditors thou annointed
my income with taxes.

So my expense overruneth my income.
Surely poverty and hard times will follow me
All the days of the Republican administration.
And I shall dwell in a rented house forever.
Amen.

Forget about those who were raised in Islam. Now, the ones who decide to convert....what could possibly attract them to Islam?

In the US, Islam gets most of its converts from prisons, and most of these prisoners were raised Christian. Islam is much harsher than Christianity. Now I'm not Christian and I'm not trying to promote Christianity, but at least Christianity has the whole "Jesus Loves You" thing. Islam strikes an insane amount of fear into its followers.

Is it possible that Islam would attract people with low self-esteem because they feel that they need to torture and punish themselves even more than they can do in Christianity? (And I'm sure prisons would be full of people with low self-esteem.) Also think of these American women who marry a Muslim man and covert to Islam and then she becomes his slave, covering herself up and walking behind him.
