Im not talking about the 10 commandmants, for what are we stoned for, burned, killed, and all other things. How many people were punished in the bible? Why are the rules in the OT not followed today? Is there something in the bible that says, change #1, all previous editions are not to be followed, these are the new rules.

At first, I rejected religion(Christianity) and called myself an atheist for a while
But I also have a side of me that I possibly might believe that there was a God that did create the universe but does not interfere with any universal laws
That there is no worshiping , no afterlife , no prayer , pretty much doesnt have anything to do with Us (humans)
My ideal image of God would be like a empty spirit and has no physical form whatsoever
Do you think Im insane? I have been thinking about this for a while now . Am I just creating a belief or a religion? Or is this Deism?

I am going to be a lead in my university's theatre play. We are putting on a play called "The Angry Atheist".
I do not lie though, and the play calls for me to lie during some of my lines. I am wondering if it is okay for me to lie in this situation, since its just acting. I NEVER knowingly tell a lie.

Here is a synopsis of the story:
I am a young homosexual atheist who lies, does drugs, and steals. I am suicidal and all. Then I finally find my way to Jesus Christ and I turn over my life as a homo, thief, and liar for a life devoted to Jesus Christ.

What does it really mean to become a Christian? Is it inherited? Is it a way of living?
I am a Mexican-american and tipically was born in a catholic home, therefore we worshipped the 'Virgin Marie' and all sorts of saints including Jesus Christ. We called ourselves Christians. I developed a need to read the bible and I found lots of things that I personally didn't like about our worshipping habits. We worshipped idols, we prayed saying the same thing over and over like the model prayer and the rosarie. Then I asked myself what is a real Christian? The bible never says about Jesus worshipping saints or idols. He never even said it was ok to worship him or his mother. In fact he specifically said that there was only one who deserved ALL the Glory, his Father. That's why ask this sorry it's so long but I was confused, and I want to see if anyone had the same problem.

Personally, I think that there SHOULD be a separation. The religion of the majority is not the religion of all... so I belive that in a democracy, at least, there should be a reasonable separation between the two. Ethics are not the same as heaven-sent laws.

But I'd love to hear other people's perspectives-- send 'em in!

This question is for evolutionists;

Why is it that when you see a new peice of evidence you look at it through your 'evolution colored glasses' and say things like (I heard this on the history channel) "If I didn't know better, I would say these things lived with people, but..."

Because you accept your theory as FACT and not a theory, you can't see the signs for any other theories, why do you do this? This is the kind of thing that is S L O W I N G down science, if we had open minds, in my opinion, we could objectively look at evidence and decide things much better than we do now.
Again, this is my opinion, but, evolutionists, why do you do this?

As I was reviewing the following question:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071105164722AA6vxIl&r=w#RcIrUjTtUjOT4XLwySjQmWPV4ZUPeyNeOE7FT25Ezr3o_QZ4JyKg

The message I got from the so-called question was akin to:

"Your religion is inferior and incomplete. My religion is better than yours, so there."

I felt as if my beliefs were being challenged, and I responded accordingly.

I noticed how benevolent the asker seemed ( at first ) with their "question". But when the asker was challenged with a clear FACT, they erupted into childish anger.

Immediately, I was reminded of something from the Bible which was quite clear, contrary to the asker's previous assertion:

Matthew 7:15 "Beware of false messengers, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves."

Does it strange to you that people who come to you with such a peacful message would react with such anger when opposed? Could this be prophecy occurring before our very eyes on a daily basis?

1. Abortion is NOT the killing of a human being. When early abortion happens, it is deleting a bunch of cells. You do the same thing when you scratch your arm and kill skin cells.
2. Put it in perspective: if you were on your way to a good college and got raped, and became pregnant, it would demolish your entire life. No college. Less of a future. Just being at home with a baby you didn't want, working three jobs and getting loans from your parents.
3. Think about it: is it better for a bunch of cells to be aborted, or a born baby unwanted and unloved? Believe it or not, not many people immediately fall in love with whatever comes from their womb.
4. Face it: abortion will happen wherever the laws may take it. But it will happen in back alleys, with unsterilized coat hangers and inexperienced "doctors". Do you honestly imagine the fatality rate of embryos would be more than the fatality rate of women killed by improper abortions?

I think this is a fair and reasonable question for an educated, open minded Christian to ask.

Jesus taught us about so many things, but he made no clear statement about homosexuality.

He made many statements that at least speak to certain issues these days. For example, Jesus says nothing directly about capital punishment, but he does tell us to love and fogive. This, in my view, tells us somthing about the moral status of state sanctioned murder.

But when it comes to homosexuality, our Lord is silent. Why?

Let's face it, its a HUGE issue in the Church and in society at large. If it were something so important, and so wrong, then why didn't Jesus say anything about it?

Pethaps its because God does not obsess on sexual sins.

I wish we had Church every day. We have it every Sunday and I go every Sunday. But during those six days in between, it's so easy to drift away from the Lord. If we had it every day, singing hymns and praising Him, it would be very hard to drift away. You would fellowship a lot! What do you think?

Do you think it was right for men to change the rules/abolish old rules that were in the bible. Like limitations on women, stoning children, and all the other things that would, by todays standard, be cruel and unconstitutional?
