“We have the need to be accepted and to be loved by others, but we cannot accept and love ourselves. The more self-love we have, the less we will experience self-abuse. Self-abuse comes from self-rejection, and self-rejection comes from having an image of what it means to be perfect and never measuring up to that ideal. Our image of perfection is the reason we reject ourselves the way we are, and why we don't accept others the way they are.” -- Don Miguel Ruiz

“The maxim ‘Nothing but perfection’ may be spelled ‘Paralysis.’” -- Winston Churchill

“After enough mirror gazing, we all develop our ‘cosmic sense of humor.’ We no longer try to be perfect, or try to get all our work done in time. We become content with whatever life brings. Just to deal with what comes up without crucifying ourselves or others is enough of a challenge.” -- Paul Ferrini

“Good enough never is.” -- Debbi Fields

If not, what will you do when that interest in biology inevitably leads to studies of DNA, cell formation, etc. that cannot be properly understood without an extensive knowledge of evolution?

There are so many religions in the world today. I'm just wondering what you believe in and a short explanation as to why you believe that. I'm open to everything, so don't be afraid of offending me :)

How are we saved or justified with God? Is it by a mere legal act by which God declares the sinner to be meriting heaven even though he remains in fact unjust and sinful?

Is it a real eradication of sin, or just a covering or non-imputation? Is it an inner renewal and a real sanctification or only an external application of Christ’s righteousness?

Please state your church and teaching.

First off I don't mean to sound ignorant. I'm not sure if baptism is the right word for this religion but I've been invited to one by a good friend. I'm not religious and haven't been to a church service in about 10 years so I have no idea what to expect. I know there is a lot of standing and sitting and making cross's with my hand on my forehead and chest (or am I thinking of a different religion). I want to try my best out of respect so can some one give me a play by play of what happens.

Also what kind of gifts do people normally give at a baptism?

I have not watched TBN in several years. I was watching today and saw Pastor Paul Crouch looking a bit fragile. Does anyone know how he is doing health wise? How about his wife, Pastor Jan. Thanks!

I mean God is what He is, right? If He describes Himself the way He does in the Bible, He can't also be like the descriptions of Shiva. He can't simultaneously be satan's brother/created (like in Mormon theology) and having no beginning and no end like in the Bible. Outside of outright polytheism, how can something like this be a logical statement?

Either grass is green or it isn't. It isn't made green because you believe it is. So I'm curious, lay out for me what the logical argument would be for 'all paths lead to the same place' or 'just find what works for you'?

Before anyone asks...No, I didn't do anything so awful.

This was a very thought-provoking question that we recently brought up with our Rabbi at a Torah study, and it brought out some very interesting answers, so I thought I would see what the Yahoo Answers audience has to say.

Although this was brought up in a Jewish context, please comment from your own religious (or non-religious, as the case may be) point of view.

This certainly begs the follow-up question...could there be ex-murderers in heaven?

Thanks! d=)

I just hit that button on my toolbar, and this is the message I got:

Sorry for the holdup. Looks like a temporary glitch in our network has part of Yahoo! mail down, so you're briefly without service. Rest assured the alarms are blaring in the basement and our team is working frantically to get you up and running ASAP. Again, the snag is on our end — so there's no need for you to do a thing.

Back to it,
Yahoo! Mail Team

LOL! Sirens blaring? Really?

Oh yeah. Is God angry about this? Is it a sin for the yahoo mail tema to be so off base tonight?

1.Do you think that there is a limit for employers to accommodate employees' religious needs?

2. What do you think of; Follow religion as part of your personal life not part of the workplace?

as a witch, eclectic pagan if you're wondering about my religion, i find it a little less stressful here in the city of New York to deal with being a witch in modern society. However i live with my family who are atheist, i'm underage just keep that in mind, they call me foolish for my beliefs, and mock and attack my faith. I guess you can say i lean more to the wicca side when it comes to my practices and beliefs. So i don't see my religion as harmful. They say i bring bad luck and they use these stereo typical remarks to harm me. I try ignoring them but their ignorance and lies and harmful words to sting. There is no use in talking with them, they are so closed minded to any religion. As a sixteen year old, how can i cope with this until i'm able to leave.
