Well I don't know where you live but I am surprised. I live in Texas deep in the bible belt and we can buy beer on Sunday. Church folks love their beer. Just read questions and answers about if drinking is sinful and you will find most Christians love to drink so they will say no.

You live in the wrong town. It isn't religious but cultural, informed by religious belief. Many Christians would probably like a beer too. Move outside the county lines.

Because laws enacted largely by the "moral majority" (who have one advantage in that they may not be as apathetic as some groups) are still in effect in various parts of the country.

They're the same ones who would probably say, "Oh noes, medical marijuana for somebody suffering from terminal cancer? Stop their nausea, ease their suffering?! Bunk! It's an offense against the LORD, therefore we will have none of it!"

That's only in certain areas.

When I lived in Oklahoma, a person couldn't buy LIQUOR on Sundays, but they could buy beer.

Liquor stores are open on Sundays in my home state (Washington).
