First let me tell you…I’m a non-denominational Bible believing Christian. I’ve study for more than 20 years, I’m a dedicated Christian woman. This form of insulting people who want more information regarding your faith gives the Mormon religion a bad name. I was looking for some calcification on your religion…I thought with all the misunderstanding regarding the “Jesus Salvation” issue you would have appreciated the question.

As far as your book is concerned, I believe that only the Holy Bible is the word of God, it is the only book set apart by the word of God that have been canonized and the prophets pass the test…I’ve studies the Millerite movement and how the “date setting” affected the Christian movement. I don’t believe Joseph Smith, E. White or Alice Bailey were prophets, all claim to have had an Angel guide them…The Bible claims to be written by God, so what I have to do is look at all the facts…the history and what the Bible teaches.

Jesus said to follow the gospels and the prophets, he named Daniel.

I’ve had Mormons tell me they study the Bible, this is in the Bible.

Galatians 1:8-9
8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

How do you explain this? I’m not being argumentative, It’s a real question for me…I struggle with understanding how Christians pick and choose which part of the Bible they believe. You either believe it’s the word of God or not…I don’t understand that. I’ve read lots of books by Christian authors but they don’t claim to be a prophet. Jesus stated who and what to follow.

You want me to respect your book, your religion and have your understanding, but when I’ve simply point out the Bible scriptures, my book is wrong ever time….I get the big thumbs down just for pointing out what the Bible states…I don’t even have to leave a comment, just the word of God and it’s denied.

Here is what I understand…
Anyone who believes that Jesus is the son of God, is the Messiah of the OT, the Savior of the NT, and confesses his sins to Jesus and has a daily dedicated relationship is a saved Christian. It’s not the religion you practice it’s the relationship with Jesus that saves us…the Bible says: he who has an ear…

these are the people who are listening to and for the Lord.

As far as the rebirth issue or born again…I believe this is more of a resurrection statement and it is misunderstood. I don’t think we can be born again on earth. But, we are to be new creatures and live a Christ filled life when we have accepted Jesus as our Savior. Once you have verbally confessed your sins to Jesus this allows for the Holy Spirit to work in our lives, through a relationship with Jesus.

What have I done today to merit my salvation…I stood up for the word of God, for his Kingdom and for the Love I have in his son my savior with whom I confess my sins to…and I do this on my knees to a King who holds my life in his hands, you question my faith, you call me names, you make accusations without merit…all I did was try to clear up a misunderstanding in your religion….this is why I’m non-denominational…I don’t spend my time defending a religion….I prefer spending it with the Lord and standing up for his word.

John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:7
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
1 Peter 1:23
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
1 Corinthians 15:52
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Yes, we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour.

We pray to Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ.

edit

Galatians 1:8 But though we (who was WE? He meant the other apostles and disciples of Christ, many of which believed that all Gentile converts needed to become Jewish thru circumcision, and start following the Law of Moses), or (EVEN) an angel from heaven (a figure of speech, used to impress how important it was), preach any other gospel (see Galatians 2, which talks about the gospel of circumcision vs. the gospel of uncircumcision) unto you than that which we have preached unto you (we don't have to follow the Law of Moses anymore), let him be accursed.

If you read the entire book of Galatians, you see that Paul is not saying that anything said by an angel is wrong. He is not speaking of the angel Moroni. And the "other gospel" is the gospel of circumcision.

What gospel DID Moroni bring? Well, if you read the Book of Mormon, you would know that it's encapsulated in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4:

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Hope that helps.

Well, not much more I can add than what has already been said by all the other LDS people here. Yes, I do accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I do confess my sins to Jesus. I worship Jesus and try to follow His example everyday. That is the essence of what it means to be a "Mormon".

The only different message you will get is from people who do not understand our doctrine or who just don't like us and are spreading bad info.

Yes we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Let me go into a bit of an explanation as to what the words Lord and Savior mean to me and every faithful Latter-day Saint.

Lord
Christ is my leader his word is my commandment. I seek to find what he would like to see done and then strive to do that. Why do I do that? There are two reasons I will give a short description of these reasons The full description, for me, is too hard to convey in writing. The first is, because I have found that when I seek to do His will I am happier and the problems of life are easier to endure. The second is closely related to the first. I have found that when I follow my own whims I am not as happy, my life has more problems and I am not as able to endure life's problems.

Savior
I recognize that without Christ My life would not only be miserable but, that without Him I would have no chance of salvation. He and He alone has provided the way for me to be able to return to live with my Father in Heaven. Yes as part of that process I believe that I MUST obey his commandments, but not so that I can earn my way to heaven. Commandments are there so that we can avoid the pitfalls that would cause use to loose our faith in Christ and so that as we are given the promised blessings for following them our faith in Christ can be increased.
I hope that is clear. But to reiterate;
We recognize Christ as the one and only way to salvation.
We recognize that through Christ is the way to eternal happiness.
We know that without Faith in Christ no amount of good works could get you any where.
We believe that everyone who has ever and will ever live on this earth will be given an equal and fair chance to accept Christ as their Savior.
We believe that God is a loving God who plays an active role in our lives.
We love Christ and as we learn more about Him we want to searve him more and more.

Yes and Yes

To answer your question about Galations. We believe that the fulness of the gospel that was taught by Jesus Christ and his apostles was eventually lost after their persecutions and deaths. There had to be a restoration of the gospel. Our principles and doctrines are the same that were taught in the early church. It is not a different gospel from the gospel that Paul was talking about, but from what men have been teaching for centuries.

Directly, yes, I do confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. And directly, yes, I do confess my sins to Him....

you sound like one of those... who believe that our book is some how mind poisoning.... the thing is you will have a hard time finding Christians with such dedication and faith in the lord any where else. So much for that worshipping ol' Joe smith and not Christ rumour....

your use of "accept" belies that you are a "born again christian" or a "baptist" or another holy roller denomination who believes that accepting and being born again is all that is necessary to enter gods kingdom...we believe that AND we believe that works are tantamount. With out doing what is right and enduring till the end.... accepting and re birthing mean nothing! that's what the book says!

what have you done today to merit your salvation?

Yes. He is the Lord and Savior of the world.
When we pray, we pray to Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ. So when you say "confess your sins" I would say yes, we go through using the Atonement of Jesus Christ to ask to have our sins forgiven, and to have our spirits and minds cleansed.
Have a gummy bear.

NOPE! ex-mormon here, they have never heard of the sinner's prayer, they believe they are spiritually reborn, so there is no need for being born again. They believe that what adam and eve did in the garden of eden was a good thing, otherwise, they would still be there now and there eyes would not be open. They are too busy doing their works to get to the celestial kingdom, they don't have time for being reborn.

As Mormons we know that there is only one name under heaven where by men can be saved, that of Jesus who is the Christ. He is our Lord and Savior. We confess our sins to Christ. There is more involved answers but here is the simple version.

Dear faith,
I am not a mormon.I have studied that religion extensively. It is not Christian and their Jesus Christ is not the Jesus of the Bible. They use the Bible but only their inspired translation and it is not accurate and has many additions. One of their sayings is: As you are now God was and as God is you will be.They are polytheistic.
