do you think that they're doing a good thing IF that lie causes an actual Muslim to convert to Christianity, OR are they doing a bad thing (lying about being ex-muslims) no matter what ?

I have heard many atheists speak of Santa... In sort of a brainwashing style our parents convinced us that there is a Santa, and this is how people believe religion...Because they are "brainwashed" since they were kids... However, a problem comes up...How did the first person in a religion become brainwashed? Or Maybe a better question, What made someone create religion?

So, basically 3 questions
1. How was religion started?
2. Why was religion started?
3. What Compelled someone to spread religion?

(christians, dont speak about Christianity only please..Please speak as Religion in General)

thanks much

Given the overwhelming evidence that the earth is absolutely older than 6,500 years old, Christians try to justify this by saying that a day in God's eye could be 1'000 years or longer. This is not possible! And this is why.

Adam was made on the sixth day (Genesis 1:26-31) which was supposedly thousand of years long. This was followed by the 7th day which was also thousands of years long. Following the 7th day, Adam fell into sin and was expelled from the Garden. This would mean Adam lived thousands of years, which is false, since he died at age 930 (Genesis 5:5).

Genesis 1:5 surely spoke of literal day and literal night, and the inference from the statement, “And the evening and the morning were the first day,” is that it was a literal day of evening and morning, 24-hours.

I don't need an explanation of what it is, I'm just wondering how you view it.

Hey everyone. I've been praying pretty much my whole life ever night before bed and it has changed for me every few years. That's because I find out later that I've been saying it wrong so I start saying the new one and than find out something else I was missing in it but anyways. I've seen the Lord's prayer and researched it and there are a few of them. They have a few extra or less lines than others or are tweaked by a few words or so but I want to know is there a main one that all of these are based on or not? I figured doesn't really matter since it's all the same in sense of its purpose but been bothering me. Anyone know? Thank you all for reading and God bless.

I continue to stalk you,
Though I don't understand why.
Perhaps it's because
Jeff Bridges is easy on the eye.
Maybe it's cause
Your sarcastic wit,
That brightens my day
Just a wee bit.
If you ever leave Answers,
I know I will cry,
Though I know it's because
You are off getting high.
When you return,
I'll sigh in relief.
Though I honestly wonder
If you have all your teef.
Since I've finished this poem
And I'm now burning like lava,
Will you come to Louisiana
And meet me for java?

OK, that's it. What do you all think?

Sin can't be allowed into Heaven, but I don't see any restrictions on it in Hell. Things like lustful orgies, pot, able to covet anyone's neighbor, triple chili cheeseburgers for breakfast.

Maybe weekdays in Heaven and Fri and Sat night in Hell is the ultimate afterlife?

if you found out that you had been decieved. That the devil created the bible and was having you worship him and that the real god wouldnt require worship or continuous praise. Think about it, you are continually asked to "convert" people to christianity. Why would a "real" god need this? I am being serious, it seems that the more I learn about the christian religion the more it seems "cult like".

Lately I cant' help but think there is no higher power in life. I've always heard things like "good deeds are rewarded and evil deeds are punished" but I'm convinced it doesn't matter either way. Currently I have no reason to believe in God. I like to think we are all in complete control of our lives. But to me, it seems everyone else catches breaks and I do not. I understand I'm not the only person in the world with problems, but I've seen many people in worse situations than me that still believe in God and I can't help but wonder, why? What are your thoughts?

What a concept!

What if "faith" isn't the most important thing at all. What if living as a humanitarian, loving your fellow man etc, is what God had in mind all along and he put forth scriptures as a test to weed out the bad people?

Isn't my version better? I can guarantee my version of Heaven would judge people based on their character and the content of their heart. Sorry Jeffrey Dahmer, you can't come to Heaven even if you've repented. Gandhi is also invited.

e.g., like Carrie White in the movie, "Carrie?" I'm just trying to find out where all the anger is coming from because I thought that we as civilized human beings should be respectful of the beliefs of everyone--not just of those who share our own.

Many people say it did not.
They say that Jews made up the whole story about the Holocaust for the rest of the world to pity them and hand them Israel in a plate.
Was this true?

Witness Lee wrote, "Our organic union with the Lord is also in the Spirit. Christ and the Spirit are not two separate persons. They are one person. This is a divine mystery that is beyond human understanding. Christ is the Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45b; 2 Cor. 3:17)." (The Organism of the Triune God in the Organic Union of His Divine Trinity, Anaheim, CA: Living Stream Ministry, 1988, p. 21)

They will say they believe in the Triune God and deny being "Oneness" or Monarchian Modalist. But whether they admit it or not, they are still Oneness by the teachings of Witness Lee. They were successful in deceiving some evangelical people like Hank Hanegraaff and Gretchen Passantino, along with that liberal seminary known as Fuller Theological Seminary. How come there are cult groups like this that promotes double-talk?

I know a lot of people on here (Christian, and athiests alike) have very strong views, and sometimes when I ask questions on here I get negative replies.

So, honestly, do you believe that you are respectful to other people's religions? And have somewhat of an open mind, while still keeping your religious beliefs?

I myself am Chrsitian, but contrary to popular belief I am not trying to convert athiests into believers! And likewise, I know some athiests who don't try and push their views on Christians.
