if you found out that you had been decieved. That the devil created the bible and was having you worship him and that the real god wouldnt require worship or continuous praise. Think about it, you are continually asked to "convert" people to christianity. Why would a "real" god need this? I am being serious, it seems that the more I learn about the christian religion the more it seems "cult like".

But why would god need all that from us?? I am a mother and I dont require that of my children...and I am a sinner, imperfect....so why does god require you to spread the word give him praise and so forth??

What do you mean, "The more you learn about Christianity"? What do you know about Christianity? I'm serious. I hope your exposure to Christianity isn't limited to R&S. Do you personally know any intelligent (ok snide atheists quit snickering) practicing Christian? With all due respect, if R &S is where you have gained most of your knowledge of Christ and Christians then its pretty limited.
As for the convert question, in a world of free will, people have to be convinced one by one by being talked to. I don't really see that as a hard thing to grasp.
Yes it is cult like but the head of a cult is a man and the head of a religion is a deity. The cult definition ends at that point. At some point many religions had a cult like status. I really don't see that as avoidable. I have seen some pretty good definitions of the definition of a "cult" for mental health experts and there is a pretty standard deviation between cult and religion.
edit: oldwise1 I am curious, what prompted you to ask such questions? email me if you like. I teach Catechism and I suspect you might have been a recipient of some good old fashioned lame Catholic sunday school.

Your question makes assumptions about Christianity which aren't true.
* "you are continually asked to "convert" people"
Christians try to convert people out of love. We are asked to LOVE and in loving, we try to convert. Why would anyone want to be AWAY from a God who loves them? It is still ultimately up to you.
* "Why would a "real" god need this"
God abhors sin. God doesn't NEED anything. WE NEED.
I find it odd in what you ask when the very same applies to real friendship. We praise our friends. Some people even "worship" their best friends (and some to a lesser degree). Using the log you use, I could equally say a real friend wouldn't need any of this and should be able to see past my flaws. Or perhaps there is no such thing as a "real friend"
In the "for what it is worth department" I have a friend who is an "evangelical atheist" (my label: actively tries to convert people to atheism.) I find it interesting that when he has really low lows in his life and things go wrong, he seeks me out.

simple answer, the bible is written and has been translated over and over by man. it has slipped into the realm of myth. the true creater requires no such thing and as for hell and satan they are given strength and reality by the belief in them. if you don't believe they don't exsit. there are people out there that disagree with me and tat is there right, after all, all religious beliefs are based on faith and personal interpataion.
there is many paths to the creater, you just have to choose the right one for you.

if you read the Bible
2Ti 1:8-11
"So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God,
who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,
but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher.

We need to start a new thing that isnt cult like or God connected. I hate all these cult like religions, its true they are always trying to out-do eachother. Lets get rid of them all. Grab your rolling pins and frying pans and lets rally-ho!

Yes... if you think of it this way. But, us Christian don't believe it is a religion and it isn't. Christianity is not like other religions because it isn't. The definition of one's religion is man reaching out to God. The truth of Christianity is God reaching to man. It's about having a relationship with God. If it seems cult like, then you don't really know much about Christianity like you say you do.

Adam messed up and Jesus set it strait. All we need to do is recognize this and accept the gift that Jesus gave us. God is giving us a gift and giving us a way out of Adam's mistake. We are ot continually asked to convert people. We are commanded to love thy God, love thy neighbor and love thy enemy. We are to spread the word but that does not mean convert. We can never force a person to convert. We just need to tell them about Jesus and let them decide and that is it. We remember Jesus's sacrifice once a week and live our lives by his example. We also must mortify sin and not justify it.

OK, I've thought about it. No, Satan didn't write the Bible. Because Satan represents the evil in the world, there is no way that he would teach people to be kind to one another, to love one another in a Christian way or to do good things.
Why are you so allergic to giving praise to your Creator? I do believe that is the real question you must ask yourself.

God does not require you to spread the word etc.... We should spread the truth.
Our creator has told us who and what He is, if we want to follow Him fine if not fine. You are not the child of God by birth. You are His creation.
You are His child by having faith in Christ.
