Iota is the first letter of Iesous, Greek for Jesus.
Chi is the first letter of Christos, Greek for "anointed".
Theta is the first letter of Theou, genitive case of "God".
Upsilon is the first letter of Huios, Greek for Son.
Sigma is the first letter of Soter, Greek for Savior.

Fishers of men. Many of the disciples were fisherman for a living. Jesus told them they were to stop fishing for fish and fish for men. Meaning they were to spread the word of God to men (people) and teach them the way of salvation & faith. The fish means people- going to people. The cross means Christ and what it took Christ to forgive our sins (His death on a cross) and bring us to Christ for salvation.

it symbolizes jonah. the prophet who asked god to kill him because his life was meaningless.
jesus made a parable comparing himself to jonah who was in the belly of a whale for 3 days. then he preached to a town saying god would destroy it. when god didn't, he realized that his life meant nothing.

Our school priest says its symblozes CHRISTIAN... because in early times this is used as password of Christians to enter to where they meet, all of them.... Cause not Catholic in early times kill Christians.... GETS?
