I believe in the God, Jesus, and Holy spirit.
I believe we are the temple of God and to treat body (and mind) accordingly.
I believe in God who is good and fair (benefit of the doubt) and that the world may end (when, don't ask).

I accept all of science, all of human activities that yield fruitful knowledge and realize we must reason, question, and perform humanly activities.

Yet, I don't quite accept the literal interpretations of certain portions of bible and really do not * feel* anything for certain characters of the bible (because not all were the thinking types who gain most admiration). I really don't feel quite up to par with biblical knowledge, yet have no reason to reject christianity. In fact, I aspire toward knowing God and communing with Him on a very personal level through prayer and reflections. ....and I am satistfied to an extent. I do not desire to memorize and fill my head with scriptures. I am busy with life. I am not a bible scholar.

What's the deal with a quote like this?

"...the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion..."

Who would say such a thing?

(Atheists, please do not answer. Give the Christians a chance to figure it out on their own.)

That people can say anything they want but if you paste it in a question it gets automatically deleted?

I tried to ask a question or at least show something funny where an answerer basically childishly cursed out the questioner saying that they were immature.

Someone posted an atheist's prayer, and I responded by posting Zelazny's agnostic prayer. I thought it fit the topic, and frankly I find it hilarious. I thought it would give people at least a chuckle. Rather to my surprise, it received a down-thumb as the first response.

Awhile back, someone posted a question about bunnies. I responded with Anya's heavy-metal riff against bunnies from the Buffy musical episode, which I also find funny. It, too, received several down-thumbs.

The answer below mine in a recent question was from a woman named Nea, which was:

"A roving band of mathematicians - hilarious!
I had no idea mathematicians were nomadic ."

I found the answer slightly amusing, and certainly innocuous, but it, too, is receiving down-thumbs.

So, am I reasonable in assuming those are from people with the sense of humor of a moldy turnip, or is there some logic there?

No ultimate standard of morals. No uniform codes of conduct. Responsible to no one but SELF.
What pitiful state of affairs this world is headed to.
So much for 'free-thinkers".
Stay in the Word, brethren. This world is NOT our home. Stay firm in the Lord. There are people out there that are literally POSSESSED by the devil. Watch your family brethren. Satan is out there.

What does it say about our country when someone like Mahmoud Ahmadinezhad goes to a college as a "distinguished" speaker, and the kids have no problem with his "Death To America" slogens, no problem with him killing our brave troops by proxy, and no problem with him trying to obtain nukes for his terrorist allies; but they DO have a problem when he says something about HOMOSEXUALS ?

Every time this guy's name is mentioned,. all everyone thionks of is gay, gay, gay. Can't you get your minds out of your crotches? Good God almighty: Is everyone really that screwed up in the head? Have the ex-hippies from the 60's who run today's Universities really twisted up our kids' minds that badly? Can't you think of anything more impostant than that?

John 17:6 “I have made your name manifest to the men you gave me out of the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have observed your word.

John 17:11 “Also, I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world and I am coming to you. Holy Father, watch over them on account of your own name which you have given me, in order that they may be one just as we are.

John 17:12 When I was with them I used to watch over them on account of your own name which you have given me;

John 17:26 And I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in union with them.”

I am a Christian. I have found that when mentioned I am shunned. Everyone says, "Have an open mind". I find this confusing since Christianity is attacked from all angles. Perhaps it is due to some bad experiences that people bash us. I am told to be accepting of all people from all back grounds but I feel this acceptance rule does not apply to Christians. Now I realize some of you have one goal to disprove any religion. I just would like to know why I accept people for who they are and love them regardless of differences and I am laughed at over my beliefs. I do not stand around saying you will go to hell over this or that. When asked I will give my opinion and yes there are some things I believe are just wrong. The problem is when did it become OK to hate Christians when acceptance is the rule of the day.
Please be civil in answering. I am only doing research. Thanks.

Im going through a break - up with my love. I do love him, he loves me as well. Im just still young, and im not ready for the seriousness of this relationship.

He is not a very religious person... nor am I, but I have learned a lot about Christianity through my mother...
I have taught my love during our relationship about God. I have been talking about God through the whole break up... that he must trust that God has a plan for each of us, and that if His plan is for us to be together then he will make it happen!

He has started to pray, and just talk with God. Tell him everything... and he says it makes him feel better.
But he is praying that God makes me come back to him... is that wrong? I have told him to pray that Gods will be done... and he is doing that... but is it wrong that he prays for God to bring me back to him? And for us to be together?
