With one voice cry out for the return of Jesus Christ?

2007-09-20 12:55:28 · 19 answers · asked by A Voice 5

I am a Christian, just to clean that one up.

But Christmas....a lot of Christians need to get it through their heads that...they might celebrate is as "the day jesus was born".
But that is not the original root of the holiday.
It may have the word "Christ" in it. But that is not where is came from.

Christmas is a Pagan* holiday.

I just figured you should all know that.

And if anyone says "Where is your source of this?"
Its called taking a effing history class.

I challenge each and every one of you (theists) to research atleast three religions other than your own. Then research evolution and natural selection. Are you up for it?

Where specifically is it indicated in the Bible that someone committing suicide automatically goes to hell? To give a meaningful answer, please cite a chapter and verse.

Like a Christian I thought evolution took as much faith to believe in than creation was. Boy, was I wrong. There's many lectures on explaining how evolution works and many other courses in anthropology and microbiology that explain distinct parts of evolution.

Was anyone else surprised that evolution actually has tons of evidence supporting it?

Discernment is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, a gift of the Holy Spirit, for us Evangelical Christians. How would you describe discernment? Is it spiritual discernment? Intellectual discernment? What is going on there?
It is a very useful gift...God Bless

Im not trying to judge, but do you believe people intentionally act ignorant? It seems that way to me. I know no one is perfect, but people just seem to be good actors in a sense.

Don't say that those possessed are Not true christians, look at the Emily Rose story. There have been many well documented cases where true faithful christians have been possessed and they begged God to help them as well as priests, but God didn't. Why?

I am a Christian...yes, tell me I am an idiot, and shower me with abusive words for all I care.
I took a class on Evolution to better understand it and...personally I still think its a amazingly stupid concept, but...to each his own.
My main question is...If every evolved from something else...how come we stopped?
How come we dont see monkeys turning into people???
How come no one has ever seen a fish become a Shark?
Did we just get to one point and say "You know what? We have evolved enough, now lets take a break"????
Everything is about faith.
You can have faith in evolution.
You can have faith in...the whole "we came from the muck and goo" story.
You can have faith in God.
You can have faith in nature.
Everyone has faith in different things. None of these "faiths" make full sense. Admit it.
In my own opinion, "God" is the only "faith" that has ever been able to answer all of my questions.

I am an Evangelical Christian. One of the things we get, a fruit of the Holy Spirit, is the Word of Knowledge...we get penetrating insights, which often come to us as words. It is almost like we are picking up a thought or a prayer.
How often do you experience this?

Ok I was confirmed a while ago but now my friend is asking me about Confirmation. She's not really that religious and she hasn't been to CCD in years, but she does want to get married in a church. I'm not sure what to tell her.

Are you allowed to get married in a church if you're not confirmed?
Are there any specific requirements you have to comply with so you can get married?

I'm mostly curious about the parts that have to do with Confirmation, 'cause it's possible she won't be able to make hers.

I was born and grew up in a Catholic enviornment my whole life. Don't get me wrong, even though I was Catholic, growing up the only time I went to church was on Christmas, Easter, or special occaions. Although I go to a Catholic church, I do not agree or follow all of the beleifs of Catholics (praying to saints, virgin mary, ect.).

A couple of my friends tell me that I seem more like a Christian than a Catholic. I've considered changing religions before but never really thought it was necessary to do so because Christians/Catholics, although different, share many of the same principles. Thus a Christian is a Christian right?

Anyways, can sombody tell me what the true differences between Catholics and Christians/Protestants are?

Does anyone else think that if someone comes on and says that they think you are wrong or in a cult or just insults, should say what faith they are?

I personall don't want the info to insult them back, but to get a better understanding of how I might intrepret what they say.

I find it funny that no matter who you ask, you will get a different answer as to what Hell actually is. One of them said that Hell is simply an eternity without a relationship without God. One of them said that Hell was a place of burning and fir an torture. One of them said that Hell was simply a land outside of God's realm. I'm starting to think that we have a bunch of religious people just taking a guess and that no one really knows what Hell is or if it even exists.

So how does free will somehow address the question of how an all Loving, all Just, and all Merciful deity could allow a person to supposedly choose Hell over Heaven?

Sure, I'd take the gun away from the kid and give him a good butt-beating to make sure he never thinks about it again -- punishment is needed. But infinite punishment...?

Free will doesn't answer the problem, Fundies. It's your definition of your so-called God.

Lot's of people call for a USA constitutional convention to make the constitution fit with their interpatation of the Bible.
Let's have a biblical convention and have the bible conform ti the American constitution instead of the wishes of a pagan Roman Emperor.
What changes should we make?
