I find it funny that no matter who you ask, you will get a different answer as to what Hell actually is. One of them said that Hell is simply an eternity without a relationship without God. One of them said that Hell was a place of burning and fir an torture. One of them said that Hell was simply a land outside of God's realm. I'm starting to think that we have a bunch of religious people just taking a guess and that no one really knows what Hell is or if it even exists.

The Norse version of hell is a place called Niflhel - it is the coldest of the nine worlds. It is the abode of traitors, murderers, oath-breakers and the like. They live in a house with doors and windows only to the north on the beach of Nastrond. This is why in some Scandinavian countries, they never put windows or doors on the north side of their houses.

Of course, none of the afterlives are permanent. When they have worked out their punishment, they may go somewhere else

So, what exactly is your question???? What is Hell? Well Hell is something undetermined that we on Earth have no prove of the existance of other than our specific religious faith, and it's doctrines, which, in reality is not proof. . . that's why it is called faith. So what does it matter? I'm not going to hell, and if I am , what can I do to stop it??? Considering my faith and my works, which sometimes follow my faith, I've done my share, it is left up to the powers that be, but you, my dear friend. You are not saved, you my dear friend should fear the fiery pit, that may or may not actually exist. . . Or something like that. . . .have a great day.

Hell is the opposite of Heaven.

Man's free will chooses his destination.

Choose God, inherit Heaven.

Choose anything other than God, inherit Hell.

Get a Bible and read it, it will explain everything you need to know. Oh yeah, and you might want to read, "A Divine Revelation Of Hell" by Mary K. Baxter. It will shake you up and open your eyes.

We do not know how Hell will be like but we know we will despise it and wish to be in Heaven but can't. We definitly know Hell exists because it says in the book of Revelations that the angel fell into abyss which is called Hell

Hell is eternal separation from God, your flesh being ripped asunder by wild animals, regenerated, and ripped asunder again. It is flames hotter than 1,000 furnaces that burn your body, but never "kill you".

It is a place where the worms that eat you never die. It is a place where you have no name, not even a number, but are just another damned soul noticed by no one but the devil who welcomes you to eternal torture and anguish.

Matthew 13:41-43 (New International Version

41The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 42They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.

Hell IS all these things, but I like to believe that the one thing it WILL be is the eternal knowledge that you could have chosen to follow Christ while you were alive, & you refused to. You will have to live with that knowledge for all etrernity in hell.

The Bible has a story about a man that was rich and when he died he went to hell. It was so hot he begged for even drops of water. He also begged to go back and tell his brothers how bad it was so they wouldn't go there. Jesus said there is a hell, that's enough for me...

The common perception of hell (i.e., burning lake of fire, demons eating you alive, being pitchforked over a burning flame) was the creation of Dante in Dante's inferno. Dante wrote it many centuries after Jesus was born and certainly many centuries after genesis.
The simple definition of hell, according to the scholars, is "removed from God's sight."
Hope that helps.
