There is no "Gift of discernment". What the Bible refers to in the 12th chapter of I Corinthians is the gift of the Spirit know as "discerning of spirits".
It is a supernatural gift of the Spirit that enables a person to perceive the spirit realm, and thus to hear, see or sense the presence of spirits, whether it be the presence of demons, angels, or even the Lord.
The word discernment can also refer to the spirit imparted ability to distinguish whether something is of God or not of God. This is not the same as the supernatural gift of the Spirit.
For instance, everyone has knowledge. This is not the same as the Spirit gift of the "word of knowledge", also listed in In Corinthians chapter 12, which is the supernatural impartation of knowledge unknowable except through direct revelation from God.
P.S. An example of the gift of discerning of spirits can be found in II Kings 6:17

I believe it's all-descerning. Spiritual, intellectual. Well, yes it is a very useful fruit of the Holy Spirit. We are able to tell good from evil at a glance. We are able to tell if we are reading false doctrine or not. It helps us to make decisions in our lives, and saves us from some very grave mistakes, and misgivings. I can feel the presence of God in others, and also the presence of evil in others. It is an eye-opener!!! It leads me into all TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!! God Bless

Here's a "for instance". Before I ever started bible study, but believed in the God of the bible and His son, someone handed me a Book of Mormon. I sat down, opened it, and started reading. It was written in the same "style" as the King James translation of the bible. All the ye, thee and thous.....but it sounded tinny to my ear, hollow, false. I set it down and I thought, "this isn't from God".
Years later in bible study, I came across this passage, it's Jesus speaking: "my sheep know my voice, they will not follow the voice of a stranger". That is what I heard when I was reading the Mormon's book....it was not God, is was the voice of a stranger.
That is discernment, given to me, by God, to know that which is false, and hear that which is true.

Simple test to see if you have discernment; What is the scriptural old testament?
If one says Genesis-Malachi; one probably does not have the discernment ability presently.

Please, EVERYONE, stop right now and pray for Grazie! She is in deep distress and needs our prayers!!
God bless all of you!!
EDIT for Esther: Amen, dear sister! I have gotten that same discernment for that book! The Book of Mormon also contains several chapters that were plagiarized WORD FOR WORD from the book of Isaiah out of the KJV!

1Cr 12:6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
1Cr 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
1Cr 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
1Cr 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
1Cr 12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another [divers] kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
1Cr 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
1Cr 12:12 ¶ For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also [is] Christ.

As far as I can tell, you guys can't tell a snake oil salesman from a decent human being to save your life. You might want to consult with your god on this.

If there really was a God he wouldn't have put gullible, insecure people like you on the earth, would he?
Now go away and get one of those things they call 'a life'.
