Since Protestantism has gotten away from true Christianity and what the early Christians believed...

Since Protestantism removed books from the Bible which had always been included in Holy Scriptures, even from the earliest Jewish Old Testament...

Since Bible fundies have caused people to hate Christianity and not take it seriously ... by telling others that they are going to hell, and saying that you must believe like they do in order to get to Heaven....

Since Bible fundies have chased people away from the faith with their harsh judgments and hatred, rather than drawing people to God....

I wonder what will be next. Any ideas/opinions about what will happen to further discredit/destroy Christianity?

Jesus said the gates of hell would never prevail against His own church, which He established in 33 A.D. and I'm glad that the Catholic Church exists as a beacon of light in all this darkness.

At some point enough people in the world might get too sick and tired of clumsy, self righteous and arrogant bully boy tactics in the name of an invisible magic sky fairy, ..who allegedly selectively blesses America no less.

Will the turning point in favour of enlightened, environmentally friendly thinking, genuine humanitarian and global care, and scientific literacy come through a more peacefull means instead..?

Is the choice hidden within the fractured and divivded halls of Americas education systems, where scientific illiteracy, ignorance, misinformation, propaganda and deciet are endemic..?

Hello all! I pray that you are doing well this morning.
I would like to talk to you about something God has brought to my attention this morning.
As I was taking my daily walk and thinking about those people in my life, I remembered a bible verse that talks about "guarding our hearts."
Now I believe that this verse is talking about guarding our hearts from evil. But, I also believe that it means guarding our hearts from those who hurt us.
There are those people that we love. And sometimes the people that we love continuously hurt us. Every time we come away from an encounter with them, we feel just a little down. God tells us to "GUARD OUR HEARTS." Think about this. Seriously. What are we guarding it from? Does it mean not to love that person? No. Does it mean not to ever talk to that person again? No. I believe it means that we must be aware of the situation that we could get into every time we have an enounter with that person and we must stake our happiness on Jesus

Can you rank out of 10 the relative Christ-like-ness of your life? This doesn't just apply to people who call themselves Christian. I'm asking everyone to guage their own lives against their impression of the man we know as Jesus. 10 is completely Christ-like, 0 is not at all.

For instance, I would give a 10 to Ghandi (a Hindu) and zero to Rupert Murdoch and George Bush (born again Christians).

Criteria might include:

* your relative wealth or poverty (Christ was poor)
* your indifference to materiality
* your love for the poor and downtrodden
* your willingness to mix with people others despise
* your hatred for oppression
* your dedication to peace
* the example you set others
* your ability to encourage others to live selfless (not necessarily Christian) lives

By all means dispute or add to these criteria, but please explain why. Don't make up things Jesus didn't say or do.

I'm going to go for 6.5 for myself.

be they so removed from the Pirate Jesus they forget they are to leave the world alone and focus on themselves and thy matey's. In the Pirate code passed down from him who was god of rum is not the code meant to teach other pirates to fix themselves and show the rightness of being a pirate through living a pirate life? Did he command ye to force children in school to recite the pirate code? To legislate the pirate code so others would be forced to walk the plank or accept the code as thy own?
Arrr, he did no such thing. He commanded ye not to whine if other pirates sail the 7 seas. To not whine ye be persecuted when ye not be, for that is against the code and bears false witness against another pirate.
Arrr, remember the code of the Pirate Jesus and stop following the the mutiny of the Pirate Paul, arrrr!!!

Happy talk like a pirate day!

most people that christians and muslims think are going to hell are just living normal lives... why should they go to hell?
sure they do some bad things, but also good things.

if this life is really a test by our creator, don't you think the exam should contain more than one question?

"Perfect happiness, I believe, was never intended by the Deity to be the lot of any one of His creatures in this world. The most fortunate of us frequently meet with calamities which may greatly afflict us, and to fortify our minds against the attack of these misfortunes should be one of the principal studies and endeavors of our lives."

The reason I ask is because it is my understanding that the LDS believe happiness is achievable in this life. Is it? Or is my perception of Mormonism in regard to happiness wrong?

christians, you say that god knows everything, and you are one with god and he is everywhere blah di blah. so my question is why do you still come on here and ask "why"? if you are one with god and god knows everything, then there should be no need to ask "why" should there?

I have been briefly reading through some translated pieces of Quran and Hadd and there is something I don't understand.

Allah seems to threaten everyone with fire who doesn't follow his rules Muslim or not. That sounds pretty standard for a Monotheistic Religion, the bit that confuses me is the masses of instructions on how Non-Muslims should be treated and effectively wounded or killed.

What confuses me is the fact he needs his chosen people to harm others in his name, as if he cannot himself.

For example 5:33(you should know what I am talking about) If he wants people dismembered for not following him, why does he not do it himself? Note: I could give you over 30 references to him stating you should act violently, but I choose not too.

So why does an all Power Diety of any type need people to act in his name against those he dislikes?
Seriously if Allah has a problem with say me for example why doesn't he challenge me, instead of sending minions?
