Amen Lanelle, very well said indeed. The evil one can keep trying to destroy Christianity and dividing God's people...but as you pointed out, Jesus DID promise that the gates of hell would not prevail over HIS Church.
You get a gold star for this one!

You are slightly confused. The catholic church is not the church that Christ established. Many of the teachings of the catholic church are contrary to the teachings of the Bible. Of course, this would make anyone opposing the catholic church a "fundie". However, if you believe the Bible and read it for what it says, you will find that it is not only protestantism that has gotten away from the early church. The "protests" against the catholic church were due to the fact that some men read the Bible and saw that the catholic church was operating on its own agenda and not following the Bible and the teachings of the early Christians. Here a few questions you must ask about the catholic church....
If the catholic church is founded on Christ and the Bible, then
1. Why does the Bible condemn clerical dress? (Matt. 23:5-6).
2. Why does the Bible teach against the adoration of Mary? (Luke 11:27-28).
3. Why does the Bible show that all Christians are priests? (1 Pet. 2:5,9).
4. Why does the Bible condemn the observance of special days? (Gal. 4:9-11).
5. Why does the Bible teach that all Christians are saints? (1 Cor. 1:2).
6. Why does the Bible condemn the making and adoration of images? (Ex. 20:4-5).
7. Why does the Bible teach that baptism is immersion instead of pouring? (Col. 2:12).
8. Why does the Bible forbid us to address religious leaders as "father"? (Matt. 23:9).
9. Why does the Bible teach that Christ is the only foundation and not the apostle Peter? (1 Cor. 3:11).
10. Why does the Bible teach that there is one mediator instead of many? (1 Tim. 2:5).
11. Why does the Bible teach that a bishop must be a married man? (1 Tim. 3:2, 4-5).
12. Why is the Bible opposed to the primacy of Peter? (Luke 22:24-27).
13. Why does the Bible oppose the idea of purgatory? (Luke 16:26).
14. Why is the Bible completely silent about infant baptism, instrumental music in worship, indulgences, confession to priests, the rosary, the mass, and many other things in the Catholic Church?
These "practices" and "traditions" that are common to the catholic church were NOT part of the church of Christ as established in 33 AD.

the suggestion i got here upon says that Protestantism is a branch of Christianity which broke off from the Roman Catholic church on the time of the reformation. A pass which resulted interior the formation of the Protestant branch of Christianity. A reforming of Christianity which eradicated particular doctrines and practices of Catholicism that have been deemed incorrect. Roman Catholicism - exchange into the unique Christian faith which descended from the unique Christians in Rome on the time of Christ.

The Catholic Church was the First Church to alter Christianity. That's why the Greek and Russian Orthodox broke away long before the Reformation.
The Constantine Catholic Church decided not to include Romans II in the Bible, along with 27 other books, some of which are found in the Churches of Peter in their Bibles.
The Constantine Catholic Church decided to integrate PAganistic partices and events into the religion.
This is all documented how Constantine perverted the original Church of Peter.

I was raised Catholic, and I still respect many of its teachings, even if I no longer believe most of them. However, to suggest that Catholicism never needed a kick in the pants from forward-thinking reformers throughout the centuries is just plain wrong. The church had veered way off course during Luther's time.
On the other hand, some of these evangelicals today are spreading ignorant lies about the Catholic church (it's a cult, they're not Christians, the pope is the antichrist, Catholics worship idols, etc., etc.) would really be better off keeping their mouths shut, because all they're doing is bearing false witness. It's painfully clear that most of the haters have never set foot inside a Catholic church.

The papacy is the oldest Intuition in the world .- How could it survived without the grace of God & the guidance of the Holy Spirit.........The Holy Spirit did not convert to Islam in 610AD or Lutheranism in 1517AD or Calvinism in 1540s AD ...There's no comparisons. ..................The truth is , they Catholics give us the first Bible..the rest of religions intrepid it differently & formed counterfeit religion's groups...which inturn give us supermarket christens;.......pick & choose laws to suit themselves [ cool & new age stuff ] but has nothing to do with the scriptures....

I do believe that the Church as the fullness of the truth, but the protestant churches, if they preach God's love and not just God's wrath, also have some truth in them.
It's true that fundamentalists have caused immeasurable harm to the gospel in the modern world, and that protestantism is the core of fundamentalism.
But we Catholics aren't unimpeachable either. As we all know a lot of bad things have come from corrupt people in our Church through the ages, and even today, no one of us is perfect.
