most people that christians and muslims think are going to hell are just living normal lives... why should they go to hell?
sure they do some bad things, but also good things.

if this life is really a test by our creator, don't you think the exam should contain more than one question?

as a christian i often ask myself the same question.. i don't understand why it is that we have to live text book lives and struggle so much to be considered a candidate to enter heaven. we did not choose to be born so why are some of us going to be persecuted because we choose not to believe. when i say "we" i'm speaking in terms of the human race..
i don't know.. it's just me. i'm just torn when it comes to that.

First off the bible is not a science book.

God vs. the Bible
http://godvsthebible.com/

The Quaran has a different approach to this - so if we all listen to Osama and convert to the quaran as our new bible, we would be looking at these contradicting passages:

Believers, Jews, Sabaeans and Christians -
whoever believes in God and the Last Day and does what is right -
shall have nothing to fear or regret.
-- Sura 5:69

But just three verses further in the text it says

Unbelievers are those that say:
"God is the Messiah, the son of Mary." For the Messiah himself said:
"Children of Israel, serve God, my Lord and your Lord."
He that worships other gods besides God, God will deny him Paradise,
and the fire shall be his home. None shall help the evil-doers.
-- Sura 5:72

Stop worrying about God so much. Read the words in red text (ie: what Jesus said) if you want to follow what's important about Christianity.

The rest is just an interesting collection of parables. Nothing more. If you are a Christian, anyway.

There's a word for a person who follows what God preaches in the old testament - Jewish. Unless you consider yourself a Jew, you're focusing on the wrong stuff.

It's like this. If you live a good normal life but break a law and stand before a judge what's going to happen?

Is the judge going to say "Sure you broke the law, but you live a good life and so I'm just going to ignore the fact that you broke the law and let you go with no penalty"?

Obviously not. To understand more on this subject click on the Get Saved button @ http://web.express56.com/~bromar/

I think some religions have a certain amount of "You get what you pay for" in their theology, i.e., the more you sacrifice, the more God MUST be pleased with you!!

I don't believe in one-size-fits-all religion or that others should dictate your conscience to you. But I do believe that each person has a responsibility to live their life the best way that they know how.

"Why does god think"? Why do you think that everyone is going to hell?

If you do good you have heard the voice of God and you need not fear 'hell'. And hell, by the way, is not an eternally burning place. The wicked will be "as though they had not been".

Since religion is a 'personal' relationship between yourself (in the generic sense) and a 'higher being', I would guess that 'most' people believe that's what their God is a punishing God.

Personally, MY God is ever forgiving - to everyone.

I pay attention to the word grace - undeserved forgiveness. Yeah, that's what my God does.

cgriffin, this is not a contradictory verse. Remember that the concept of trinity was not there at the time of christ and during the early times of christianity. Of course the christians at the time of Christ will go to heaven and the jews of their time as well.

Verily, We took the covenant of the Children of Israel and sent them Messengers. Whenever there came to them a Messenger with what they themselves desired not - a group of them they called liars, and others among them they killed.

It is not for us to accept SOME prophets and reject others.

As for your question:
Heaven and hell is not for us to decide but for GOD. We are told about the story of a woman who lived her life in evil. She
finds an animal and feeds it and she will enter heaven by this good deed and God's mercy.

Our duty is to believe in God and do good deeds, and by his mercy and will, will enter heaven.

No one has to go to hell....JESUS CHRIST paid all of mankind's penalty for sin in full when he went to the cross.
John 1:12 says- as many as received HIM (JESUS ) to them he gave the right to become children of GOD. People who insist upon rejecting CHRISTs sacrifice to the grave inadvertently send themselves to hell. Jn 3:16-19 sums it up...

God has declared those with the Mark of the Beast will not be allowed inside.

No one knows for sure who will have that mark.
