Why are atheists in the Religion & Spirituality section?

I swear, every time i log on i see that question and it bugs the hell out of me... Especially since when you type in a question the system automatically does a search for you and brings up all of the times a similar question has been asked right below where you enter the question. 9 times out of 10 it's a Christian too. Doesn't reflect well on them. It seems like the dominionist mindset is at work on Y!A as well.

We have all seen what happens when a species from one part of the world is put in a different part of the world. The environment suffers because the species is not native to the area. Look at what humans are and what we have become. Is it possible we were brought here from another planet and because we are not native to this planet have caused it problems? Is it also possible that modern humans started out as a crossbreed an experiment done by otherworldly beings?

without it for so long before it was created? Seems strange how it wasn't written at the start of mankind rather than 2/3 of the way through our existence? Or is this more proof that it is complete nonsense?

He fulfilled hundreds of prophecies about the coming Messiah, and I do not understand how a believer in the scriptures can deny him.

Someone just said that the Mormon books do not coincide with the Bible. Guess what bud; the BIBLE DOES NOT COINCIDE WITH THE BIBLE! All religious books are riddled with contradictions, and the Bible is no exception. I have provided many examples of this: see my past posts.

Why is everyone so keen to jump on Mormons? Are you that hypocritical in your own faith that somehow the "love thy neighbor" clause does not apply to you when you speak ill against Mormons?

I am Atheist, and your hatred goes a long way to show me why your religion is dead. You are the example, and YOU don't even follow it! How funny is that?

PS.... The first person to quote John 3:16 and/or say "the Bible has no contradictions" wins a free DUNCE hat!

Apparently the cause is the ebola virus which litterally rots the flesh and certain death follows in 4 or5 days.

- Why has God created this virus ?
- What have Gorillas done to God that he visits his terrible wrath on them?
- Why is man more compassionate for God's creatures than "perfect, omnipotent" God himself?

Do events such as this not show to you that the idea of God makes no sense?

For arguments sake Atheism or secualrism will never ever be able to convert Christians, Jews Muslims to what they believe, or to see their idea of how the world should be, so are you saying you just see continous fighting between the religious and the secularists?

As a nation we cannot stamp out Radical Islam stop the fighting between the Jews and Palestinians how do you see this all getting better or ending?
Of course I as a Christians see no hope and that is why I believe we are in the End Times and Jesus will finally put an end to all this fighting, but since you dismiss this what do you think will happen?
A Nuclear WAR just happens and end of story? or Global Warming just eventually wipes out humanity or a Meteor? how does it end for you or get better?

New Testament except the Resurrection (for we know that even if that was proved they still wouldnt believe), why dont they believe that Jesus was the Son of God. MY history professor(i study history) said that he believes that Jesus was using the untapped powers of the mind. Which sounds more ridiculous?

You are not welcome here on planet earth! How dare you fly your unknown flying objects over my house! I will not accept this behavior, you must stopped at once before this war becomes greater than it has too!

We have had 723 casualties on the west coast fighting these menacing green beasts already, we need to stop this before it gets out of control!

Lock your doors, do not allow your children to go out of sight, be warned!

Anyways, i'm sorry i had to go on so long, but it was important, do you believe Aliens should go back where they came from? I think so!

I can admit that religion has its faults and I don't make excuses for it either. However can you admit that science has its faults as well? I can admit that religion can be used to justify bad behavoir, however can you admit that science has been used to justify it as well? If a person can find a statistic to prove a point, does that mean that everyone in that demographic will most likey be a statistic? Commonly used statistic : "Statistics show that 90% of people who practice a religion are less educated" okay. However you do realize that there is such a thing as a "misuse of statistics"?

From wikipedia:
"If you have a statistic saying 100% of apples are red in summer, and then publish "All apples are red", you will be overgeneralizing because you only looked at apples in summertime and are using that data to make inferences about apples in all seasons. Often times, the overgeneralization is made not by the original researcher, but by others interpreting the data"

Ok, my question is this...
Why do so many Atheists hang out in the Religion/Spirtuality section? I, myself, am a Christian, but I do not try to judge other people for their beliefs whatsoever and respect others for the choices that they have made in life. What I find while I visit this section is people asking questions about God and some Atheists attacking them for thinking that there is one. I honestly am trying to understand here and not undermine anyone. Why, if you do not believe in a higher being, what makes you come to this section?
