Someone just said that the Mormon books do not coincide with the Bible. Guess what bud; the BIBLE DOES NOT COINCIDE WITH THE BIBLE! All religious books are riddled with contradictions, and the Bible is no exception. I have provided many examples of this: see my past posts.
Why is everyone so keen to jump on Mormons? Are you that hypocritical in your own faith that somehow the "love thy neighbor" clause does not apply to you when you speak ill against Mormons?
I am Atheist, and your hatred goes a long way to show me why your religion is dead. You are the example, and YOU don't even follow it! How funny is that?
PS.... The first person to quote John 3:16 and/or say "the Bible has no contradictions" wins a free DUNCE hat!

Poster #2 completely proves my point.
Notice he says "saved Christians". He has created his own sub-class of Christians. That's nice. They could say the same of you.

The bible is full a prophecy that is taken place right now.
How would the Bible Guess that there would be a world wide numbering symstem coming? National Identification, computer chips are a couple of examples. They just chipped Alzheimers patients the other day. Are you being forced to have a National I.D.? Yes by May 2008.
How would the Bible guess there the seed of Ishmael would be a wide man as found in Genesis 16:11-12?
How would the Bible guess the rise and fall of world governments? Babylonian Empire? Roman Empire?
How would the Bible guess the coming of a One World Government? Look around you; all the nation are coming together. Why do you think America will close the boarders?
How would the Bible know there is coming a nuclear Holocaust that will kill over 2 billion people on the earth?

The trinity of one God with three personas (or faces, functions, etc.) is the core of Christianity. Without that, it's all academic. Mormons believe in three persons, so that means they are not Christians. They are Latter Day Saints. If I say you can't be a Muslim without following the koran, would that be judgemental?
There are many differences between Christians and Mormons: Mormons have a duel loyalty - they will quote you parts of the Bible to "prove" the word of Joseph Smith, but if you point out the discrepancies between the Bible and the Book of Mormon they will tell that the Bible is "flawed" and "corrupted". Christians defer to the Bible as the final authority. Mormons believe that their "prophets", who run the church, are infallible and can come up with new "revelations" that the congregation must obey. Polygamy was one of these flip/flop "revelations." Christians believe that no human being is infallible and that God pretty much said what He had to say about 2000 years ago. One of the biggest differences is that perched atop the Mormon temple is the statue of an angel. A Christian church would have a cross.
Are Mormons stupid or evil? No. Are they Christians? Afraid not.

First, to answer your first question: Nobody made any "rules" about who is Christian and who is not. It doesn't matter what a person may call themself, or what Christian "religion" they belong to, a Christian is simply a person who believes Jesus Christ was the son of God and, you know, the whole John 3:16 deal (I want my dunce cap, dude!)
Second, bud, I'm not sure which Bible you read, but I have read the Bible many times over, and not just the King James version, but modern texts as well, and the Bible does not and never has contradicted itself. Maybe religious books have, but the Bible is not a religious book. Religious books are different, they are about the rules and regulations about a specific religion, for example the books of Mormon, those are religious books.
And "everyone" is jumping on the Mormons? I sincerely doubt you have talked to "everyone." You haven't ever talked to me, and I have never jumped on a Mormon, but you accused me of doing so (talk about passing judgement). I do agree with you about loving your neighbor, this was a commandment passed down by Jesus Christ that all people, not just Christians, would do well to abide to. Yes, we are to follow the example set by Jesus Christ, and yes, we, in general, have a hard time with it. But that doesn't mean the Bible is wrong, that means we (Christians) are not following the teachings of our savior. It's tough, but Jesus Christ would forgive anybody who asked Him, why can't we? If the son of God will forgive, who are we not to?
God bless you

I believe that anyone who follows the teaching of Jesus Christ is a Christian. I find it interesting that there is so much "bashing" of others religions. I respect all people, and we all have the right to believe as we choose. I do hear many telling others what "another" faith believes. Many are not correct in the things they say. I would not tell others what Jewish people believe because I am not Jewish. Just as I don't know everything about Catholics or Baptists, etc I do, however, happen to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon). We are Christians and we study the Bible. We believe Christ atoned for our sins. No, we don't have more than one wife. and we definitely do not and never have worshiped Joseph Smith. Just a bit of info from someone how does know what the "Mormons" believe. I do enjoying reading your thoughts and view points.

Dear Feral,
You are asking two different questions here. The question is not about the authetnicity of the Bible. The quesiton is about whether Mormons and Chrisitans are the same! The Mormons follow the teachings of the Book of Mormon, The Pearl of Great Price and many other books which does not agree with the Bible. The Mormons do not believe that Jesus is God and that He is the only way to have a relationship with God. Pointing that out is not speaking ill of your neighbor and failing to love they neighbor-- truth is truth. You're arguing that the Bible is not truth- and that's another question and argument- but when you compartively examine what each religion believes- it's not the same.
It's like saying Atheism and Christianity are the same. They're not- and it's not unloving to say so.
Your argument that the Bible does not coincide with the Bible does not prove that Christianity and Mormonism are the same- they have many many fundamental differences.
Kindly,
Nickster

The reason we say mormons are not is because they aren't. It is simple really. They believe God is just a man who served his god well and was elevated to god-hood. They believe He lives on another planet with his wives and kids. They believe That God is one god among many. They believe we will too one day be gods if we serve God correctly. They believe to get into the best part of Heaven you need a passport signed by Old Joe (Joseph Smith). Being saved by Christ is not enough. They believe the blood of Christ is not enough. Thus they are not Christians. For more info follow the link below.

The Bible makes the rules. A Christian is a person who has the indwelling Holy Spirit and thereby believes that Christ is God, that he resurrected from the dead (and is alive today) and was born of a virgin (establishing his sinless nature):
1 Corinthians 3:16; '... do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?'
Romans 8:9; '... however, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.

The Book of Mormon is not of God. Mormons have a Jesus other than the biblical Jesus. Mormons believe "as man is, God once was". No.
Please calm down. No one hates Mormons. They are just not Christian.
