He fulfilled hundreds of prophecies about the coming Messiah, and I do not understand how a believer in the scriptures can deny him.

It's just another belief...they will ask you, how come you worship this fake Messiah named Jesus?

Because the "jesus" that was written about generations after his alleged death and resurrection was cobbled together from then existing scripture. It turns out that the scripture was a bastardized version of the original hebrew where there was no crucifixion, no virgin birth, etc. There are many failed prophecies, no peace, no temple, etc. When the jews saw how the original had been mistranslated and then used to create a savior after the fact, they rejected the mistranslation as well as jesus as messiah. There is a very good reason that there is not one mention of jesus by his contemporaries. He didn't exist.

You do realize that most, if not all of my Bible has been mis-translated, twisted or taken out of context to support what you're saying, right? For example: the word 'almah in Isaiah 7 really means "young girl", not "virgin". You knew that, right? Oh, and the "suffering servant" in Isaiah 53, when taken **in context** with the previous chapter, clearly refers to Israel. You knew that also, right? Oh, and the "let us make" from Genesis 1 actually is G-d talking in the royal "we" or to the Heavenly Court--you knew that, right?

OK, now here are some links below so you can check out more on why we don't believe that Jesus was the messiah. Enjoy.

[edit] Whoopsie, I just checked the site you suggest. So Psalm 41:9 says that Jesus will be betrayed by a friend?? Here's my translation directly from the Hebrew:

"An evil (more properly translated "worthless") thing cleaveth fast unto him; And now that he lieth, he shall rise up no more."

And this refers to Jesus????????????????

And Psalm 68:18 "says" that the messiah will ascend to heaven (at the right hand of God)...

but my translation says, "The chariots of G-d are myriads, even thousands upon thousands; G-d is among them, as in Sinai, in holiness." Now how do you get Jesus out of this ??????????????

Etc., etc.

Because the Messiah is psychological metaphor for return of the authentic Self - as opposed to the learned ego identity. Jesus embodied this process of trancendence (ego death) and resurrection of the Christ/annointed being. Every event in his life portrays a step in that spiritual journey to Self and purpose. We turned it into a silly religion.

For the same reason that Moses wasn't the Messiah.

How can you believe he is?

There are those that believe that he was the greatest conman in history. He new the prophecies and he made sure that he was there to fulfill them.
