Do your spiritual beliefs help you cope with life's upheavals, big and small?

What does it accomplish?

It is amazing that people do not bother to research Catholic beliefs before making false assumptions about Catholic beliefs and practices. Non-Catholic Christians who attack Christ's Church with false accusations only make themselves appear ignorant.

Most of the accusations against Christ's Church are so ridiculous it would be like a Catholic saying that all Pentecostals, Baptists, Presbyterians, Methodists and non-denominationalists are Satan worshippers. That would be bearing false witness just the same as the Catholic haters, but then hatred only goes one way as Catholics are faithful in loving their enemies and having charity towards those lacking their grace and truth. May the Lord have mercy.

Do you really think there's no afterlife whatsoever?

Oh sure, I know many athiests are quick to say that there's an afterlife for all in the sense that your body merely changes form. The molecules are rearranged, and enery (almost) never dies.

But don't you think that we have any ongoing expereince or life after the death of our bodies?

And if the answer is 'NO', then is there any point to life at all?

Jupiter is an entirely respectable God. There is just as much proof of His existence as that of any other God, so why are there so many conservative atheists? This smells of rank bigotry.

Jupiter is renowned for the power of His lightning bolts. OK, so He played around with a few nymphs and maybe an animal or two. But, hey! Nobody’s perfect! What about Bush in college?

At least, Jupiter was married and had a Holy Family. We have proof that he wasn't gay. That should count for something with conservative atheists.

And he raised not One, but several Children, all of Whom took their place in the Heavens. Doesn't a large family count with conservative atheists?

And Jupiter remained with His wife, Juno, in spite of Her constant scolding about little peccadilloes. That should also appeal to conservatives.

This is a nation in which no religion is persecuted. We should stop this discrimination.

You conservative atheists are just bigoted hypocrites. Shame on you!

On this site I have seen theists state "Science explains the 'how' and (my) religion explains the 'why'" (I added the 'my' but it is implicit in the answer). But does it really? Because I don't really think a little hand-waving and saying "well, God wanted/did it" is much of an answer. Especially given that there are many other religions making the exact same claim.

Is religion often more of an excuse to avoid or stop thinking about the hard questions?

It was not so long ago but here is my basic idea: why would one person suffer over another if they are devout? I got some very accusatory answers from the few people who did answer. What say ye?

An 85-year-old couple, after being happily married for almost 60 years, died together in a car crash. They had been in good health the last ten years, mainly due to Mom's interest in health food and proper diet. When they reached the Pearly Gates, St. Peter took them to their luxury mansion, which was decked out with a beautiful kitchen, master bedroom suite and a fancy in-house jacuzzi.

The old man asked St. Peter how much all this was going to cost. "It's free," St. Peter replied, "this is Heaven." Next, they went out the back yard to survey the championship-style golf course that the home faced upon. They would have golfing privileges every day. In addition, it changed to a new one daily, representing the greatest golf courses on Earth. The old man asked, "So, what are the green fees?" St. Peter replied, "This is Heaven, you play for free!"

If we are all descended from Adam and Eve, then that means their children had to have incestuous sex to spawn humanity. Thus, all humans are the result of incest.

How do Xians try to explain this one away? Or are they happy being products of incest?

I didn't like to read Proverbs because it was and still is a very difficult book to digest. This is a book on wisdom and how to use it! The verse "Whoever takes crooked paths will be found out" is so true. Just think about it. This applies to the highest to the lowest. If you're engaging in something that's unlawful or illegal (Politicians, or common day thugs) it's only a matter of time before your activity comes to light and you're exposed. I can't recall the actual verse but I'm sure that you could look it up on the internet. The book of Proverbs is chocked full of good advice even for the 21st century! It's an awesome book! What do you think?

I asked why God allows Satan to be powerful. You said "free will, honey, free will." So, then, what you're saying is, without some red-horned guy running around trying to trick us all into becoming atheists, we wouldn't have free will at all?

I hate this, I have been strong with christ, but also I'm not positive. When you have scientific information saying one thing, and I know God could deffinetely create science and say this is how it will happen. I just sometimes am worried that I'm being a bad person questioning my faith, and I know it's true I'm just confused.. Has this ever happened to you?

what made you get back on track, or change?

Thanks!
