Yup, we're so much smarter than those barbarians of 1000 or 2000 years ago. Kind of like the intellectuals of 1000 years ago thought they were so much smarter than the barbarians of 2000 years ago.

So, if it is not a real entity; what is the source or cause of the evil in this world?
I mean, God went to great lengths with Job to show that He was not the author of all the bad things that happen to men/ women.
And the proposition that evil is merely the absense of good; is ridiculous; when I look at the activity of inequity at work here in 2007.
