I really think there is no afterlife whatsoever. Our purpose here is decided by each individual while we live. We survive as best as we can and try to be happy and make those we are responsible for happy and contented as well.

No one really knows what happens to us when we die.....Not for sure anyway........Just live the life that you have now and quit worrying about what is going to happen after you die.
In your last sentence you seem to say that if there is no afterlife that there is no point on living in this life that you have now.......Wake up !!!!!! This is your life right now make the best of it now, Do you really want to burden your thoughts with the wonder of an after life that know one even has any proof if it exists or not. I don't know and frankly there is not a damn thing any of us can do about it if there isn't an "AFTERLIFE"

Regardless how religious, devout, or faithful one is, no one can know what happens after death. Near-death experiences which seem to indicate a heavenly afterlife are not legitimate because the subject was not brain dead. Some of the theists among us seem to believe that morality is based only upon the reward/punishment system which follows physical death. The point of life, whatever its aftermath, is to live so as to add to the goodness in the world, to be pleased with one's existence so far as is possible, not to live as if someone (God) is looking over one's shoulder judging one and finding him or her lacking! Do the best that you can with what you are endowed and be happy if you can. That is life in my opinion.

No, I really think there's no afterlife of any kind. I see no reason to suppose that there is some immaterial part of me that will survive the death of my physical body.
There's no tragedy in this. No living thing is exempt from the carbon cycle.
As for the "point" of life, I admit this question is exasperating to me. What on earth do you expect out of life? Do you secretly hope that you were one of those switched-at-birth babies and your REAL father is a king who will come to claim you some day and then everything will be hunky-dory in your world? -- Tales like that were invented to amuse illiterate peasants, you know. You can do better. Use your imagination.

This is one of the most important questions that mankind has ever asked. The Egyptian culture was obsessed with this question for many thousands of years. And many other societies as well.
Death is the interpretation of a non-event.
It is a conceptual inaccuracy.
We do not "die."
We stop living, big difference.
Once you are able to correct this conceptual mistake, the answers to these questions are more obvious.
The point (reason, meaning) of all life is to survive and reproduce.
That includes us.
If you venture too far away from this "point", then you do so at your own risk.

The better question is:
If there IS an afterlife, then what's the point of this life?
Why are we even here if this is just a "practice run"
I think the idea that there is no afterlife gives meaning to life itself. You have to live it and do it right, because you don't get to do it again.

Sweety....there is no life after death...look up the 2 words sometime...theyre like total antonyms
There is more of a point to life if u dont believe in that silly afterdeath stuff because u life live to the fullest and enjoy it.
If there is life after this life, whats the purpose of this life? Take yourself out and go to the next life if yer so sure

I don't think that there's any consciousness after the death of the body, because I don't think there's any "us" separate from our physical selves. So, no, no ongoing experiences, no life after death.
The point of life is life. Why must this life be a prequel to something else in order to matter? These experiences, these emotions, these changes we make in the world...they *are* the point.

No, there is nothing beyond death. And no there is no point to life at all. So the way i see it, enjoy it while im here. I dont drink or smoke or any of that, but thats by choice. I believe that after you die you're like a tree or dead animal. Where do dogs go after they die? Dog heaven, i dont think so. Where do rats go, nowhere. Heaven is just a creation of our imagination in order for weaker, i believe, individuals to justify life.
I dont mean to offend anyone by this.

I don't know.
Happy? I don't know. Neither does anybody else. Including you.
However: There is no evidence whatsoever of any kind of an afterlife. No one has ever died (total brain death) and then come back to talk about it.

Your life has no significance in the overall scheme of the universe. Its only purpose is to die. Fear not; after you've died, you won't even know you ever lived. That's the way of the universe. Life exists as a whole; in different forms and at different times. No single life is eternal. If you weren't so intelligent, you would not even know much less care. In a way, this is how we (all life forms) connect. Think of the whole; that’s what’s eternal; not individuals.
