One person claims that she hears the voice of Yahweh and that Yahweh can also hear her thoughts.

Another person claims that he can hear alien messages and these aliens can also read his mind.

How would an unbiased observer differentiate between the two claims? How could they prove their beliefs to one who heard no voices at all?

im an atheist, but is this sort of like dominations among atheist/ agnostics? seperating the herd per se? by their definition I guess i would be coined as a bright. what do you think of this?

http://www.the-brights.net/

"Of course, a great many Brights are atheists by definition (e.g., they are without belief in any gods). Many self-identify as atheists, too. But, by the same token (i.e., by definition), atheists who have worldviews that do incorporate supernatural ideas are not Brights. It helps to keep those atheists in mind. This helps to see how being a bright is something else. There are the atheists who wear magnets to ward off disease, atheists who arrange their furniture using feng shui, or make decisions by horoscopes, or plant their gardens "by the signs." These are atheists who would not be Brights. They do not have the requisite naturalistic worldview. "

The Rasta Jesus and the All American strawberry-blonde Jesus can't be the same guy surely?... I've seen African Jesus's and Spanish looking one's even Chinese Jesus's, it's really silly.

Its like trying to put out fire with gasoline.

This goes out to both atheists and theists and everything in between.

If you are broad minded enough you will realize there is more than one philosphy in life that will that will get you through life.

e.g Methodist, Pentecostal, Lutheran etc.

Do you believe that only people that are part of your denomination go to heaven?

Are the teachings of each denomination sufficiently different?

If not then why the division?
Why not have just one type of Church?

I'm an atheist but i'm interested in religions and religious study and would appreciate serious answers.

Thank you for your time.

I have never come across a place that is so inherent with confusion, narrow mindness and uninformative babble. But my question is to all of you....

Christians - why are you here asking so many questions about your own faith? Shouldnt you be equipt to find answers, what with the majority of the western world being covered in your places of worship, and with the ever bountiful holy men of your church?

Athiests - why are you here wasting your effort on the religious crazies and their questions? You dont believe in a god or spirituality - so why does it affect you so much, as to draw you too a place where such matters are at a conversational peak...

Pagans, buddhists, Hindus, wiccans, occultists - why does your knowledge, advice and teachings lack in showing, in this place?

Everyone - how many of you realise how pointless a comparison is, between us? How many of you realise the arrogance and hate that is brought by an untilting, unopened mind

I dont mean to offend if i do!

As in "thou shalt not commit adultery..." -- does it include having more than one wife or husband? Does it include getting divorced and remarried?

...like the bigots of yesteryear who formed antagonistic views to the truth?

Remember, they rushed Jesus to a false trial and illegal crucifixion, even after experiencing His last miracles of being floored with their armed guards to the ground with the words: “I AM (the sacred name of God)”, and watching Jesus attach a severed ear (John 18:1-13).

Many of the first modern scientists began their investigations to discover how god works, how god acts upon the world. Over time, science began to uncover that many of the things that were attributed to god had perfectly natural explanations. The more science explored the less room there was to hide a god.

It started as a trusted endeavor to understand god, and when the evidence began to show that the god hypothesis was highly unlikely, religion gave up on honest inquiry in reverted to dogmatism.

Given the racism in modern Christianity, many whites are very fearful of the probability that Christ looks very similar to the people they have been trying to oppress.

Bottom line people are afraid that they will have a lot of explaining to do on Judgment Day.

Many times I have seen it debated about whether the burden of proof of God's existence lies with the believer or the non-believer. It is my opinion that the burden of proof lies with the believer and I think this comparison may help explain why:

In the United Stated Criminal Justice System, when a defendant is charged with a crime, he or she is considered "innocent until proven guilty". Meaning the allegations made against him or her are false until they are proven true. It is up to the defendent (and his or her attorney) to prove their proclaimed innocence.

I think this is comparable to the fact that when it comes to the existence of God, the burden of proof lies with the believer or the person making the claim that God exists. Like the defendent in the scenario above, the believer makes a claim that must be proven true or untrue and it is up to the believer the prove his or her claim or to prove that the allegations (that God does not exist) are false.

Why is the birthdate of Jesus such a mystery?
You would think if Jesus was a fairytale, they would have invented a birthdate.

The bible was written over a 1,900 time period. Do you mean to tell me within that large amount of time.. Nobody could make up a birthdate for Jesus?

Another strong case for the existence of Y'shua.

Just a silly question for many god believers obviously but these are little things that prove that prayers never work or atleast people barely have any confidence in them working at the right time...
