The antichrist and the fals prophet (or the beast and the image of the beas) represent a false system of religion and the group that enforces tha false religious system.

Martin Luther was not the first person to claim that the pope is the anti-Christ. John Wycliffe came to the same conclusion some 200 years before Luther did. Unlike Luther, Wycliffe had everything to loose and nothing to gain from proclaiming this, but he did it anyway because that is what he believed. Let us examine the facts.

What is the beast (the anti-Christ)? It is a religious power that rises out of Europe after the fall of Rome (and 3 of the tribes of the fallen empire are taken out) that acts as sovereign nation. It has much wealth and wants to change the laws of God.

"And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. “(Daniel 7:24 - 25 KJV)

The history of Europe settles the matter. There were 10 kingdoms that formed directly after the fall of Rome. After three kingdoms were taken out (the Vandals, Lombards, and Huns), the "Bishop of Rome" rose to power and formed what we now know as the Roman Catholic Church and this position is now known as the pope. With this power, the pope has changed God's times and laws. Many Christians no longer observe the Sabbath (God's time and God’s law) because the pope has instituted Sunday worship; the Roman Catechism even has a different set of Ten Commandments in it than the Bible's. It is also obvious that this kingdom represented by the little horn is different from all the others. The Vatican is a nation that has great wealth (the little horn wares an expensive crown earlier in Daniel chapter 7) but is very small (like a little horn among big ones) and is wholly ruled by a religious leader unlike any other nation in Europe today. The Vatican is a nation because the USA has an ambassador to the Vatican.

There are even more clues to point to the papal system as being the anti-Christ.

"And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast." (Revelation 13:3 KJV)

The pope was taken out of power and made prisoner (wounded) in 1798 by Napoleon. But, the pope was miraculously healed from his deadly wound in 1929, by Premier Mussolini if Italy who gave the pope all his power back!

The whole world has wondered after the pope. Just look at everyone that attended the funeral of the late John Paul II - leaders of almost every nation in the world!

Also, we find this of the anti-Christ. " And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. (Revelation 13:5 - 6 KJV)

What is blasphemy? "The act of claiming for oneself the attributes and rights of God." (American Heritage Dictionary)

Does the pope blaspheme?

"The Pope is of so great dignity, and so exalted that he is not a mere man, but as it were God. and the vicar of God." (Ferraris Ecclesiastical dictionary)

I would say he dose! The pope also claimes to be able to forgive sins. The bible clearly says that this is blasphamy.

"Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?" (Mark 2:7 KJV)

I think the papal system matches up with the anti-Christ too much to be a coincidence.

These Satanically-indwelt individuals are not known in the world yet, for the Rapture hasn't occurred. But once that happens, a very charismatic and wise person will be thrust upon the world stage for seemingly being able to solve the world's problems. This person (the Antichrist) will control the econo-religious world with the "second person" of the "unholy trinity" the False Prophet, who some believe will be a Jewish leader of some sort, based on a Scripture in Genesis that says, "And Dan (one of the sons of Israel) will be a serpent in the path, a venomous viper in the way that bites at the horses' heels so that his rider falls backward." Dan and Ephraim were the two descendants of Israel that led the Israelites into idol worship, so it's considered to be a descendant of Dan that will rise to become the False Prophet at the Antichrist's side.

Most people assume that John pointed to just one antichrist. But what do his words show? Consider 1 John 2:18: “Just as you have heard that antichrist is coming, even now there have come to be many antichrists.” Yes, “many antichrists,” not one, were responsible for the spiritually troubled situation back in the first century. Today there are, not one, but many antichrists who form the antichrist class. Collectively, they have heaped spiritual ruin upon mankind. (2 Timothy 3:1-5, 13) Who make up the antichrist? The apostle John stated: “Who is the liar if it is not the one that denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one that denies the Father and the Son.” (1 John 2:22) Apostates and leaders of false worship twist the clear teachings of Jesus into knots of religious deceit. Such ones reject Bible truth and spread lies in the name of God and Christ. They deny the true relationship of the Father and the Son by their Trinity doctrine. Therefore, they too are a part of the antichrist. Jesus forewarned his disciples at Luke 21:12: “People will lay their hands upon you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons . . . for the sake of my name.” Since the first century, true Christians have endured savage persecution. (2 Timothy 3:12) Fomenters of such treatment work against Christ. They too are a component of the antichrist. “He that is not on my side is against me, and he that does not gather with me scatters.” (Luke 11:23) Here Jesus proclaims that all who oppose him and the divine purposes he supports fall into the category of the antichrist. What end awaits these?

Unfortunately, we will not know who these people are until it is too late. They have not yet come (the Earth is still spinning), but they may already be in existance on this Earth. Here's a though based on the "Left Behind" series to illustrate such a point:

In one of the prequel books, the main character (Rayford) is a pilot who narowly escapes an accident in which a grounded plane trying to enter the runway gets in front of his landing jet. Rayford goes on to lead the fight against the Anti-Christ. In the books, the Anti-Christ (Nicolae) is about 16 during this incident. (The False Prophet - Leon - is older than Nicolae.)

Recently, a similar situation occurred at an airport in Ohio (I think). One plane almost landed on another - narrowly escaping an accident.

Granted, Left Behind is not prophetic like Revelation, but this is just to point that Anti-Christ and the False Prophet may have already been born.

None of us are sure who they are.

One of the signs we watch for as Eschatologists is a peace treaty being signed with Israel for 7 years.

Bible indicates that after three and a half years of that treaty, he, (antichrist) will break the treaty and abolish worship in the temple.

Before the 3.5 year mark of such a treaty then, there has to be a temple built.

Most people that I know or have known who study the end times and end times Biblical prophecy, watch for news about the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem as one of the key signs of the beginning of a 7 year treaty and the AntiChrist "coming out of the closet" as AntiChrist.

Until more pieces of the prophecy are revealed by unfolding history it is impossible to say who the members of the "unholy trinity" are.

Devil is you and me. Living from ego. the lower Chakras without the upper chakras.
False Prophet. Most religions declare that they are the chosen ones. Those inside your tribe are your brothers. Love them. The human need to be with others and to help one another. That is half a high. They then declare that anyone outside there feild is going to hell. That judgemental self rightious attitude. Is the other half of a false HIGH. God is then nothing more than a idol. A book that is created by there idol. THose are all False prophets. They slam the door on the rest of humanity, That is why we have war famine and pestilance they direagard the humanity of the rest of the world.
The Anti christ is anyone who follows that path.

Get out the Bible and read the Book of Revelation and the Book of Daniel in the Bible. It describes the false prophet and the antichrist. There are many antichrist in the world today and you see them on this forum. But there is coming one that is inhabited by Satan himself. A silver tongued devil who will bring peace for 3 1/2 years.

1John 2:18, "Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, EVEN NOW are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time". Verse 22, "...He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son". The "last days" started with Christ's life, death & resurrection. A day is as a thousand years with the Lord therefore, two days have past since Christ died for us. It doesn't say antichrist claims to be Christ but denies him. Matt 24:4-5, "Take heed that NO MAN deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many". They come in his name, christian, saying that Jesus is the Christ but deceive many. Matt 24 describes today; nation against nation, many are "offended" and hate one another in defense of their belief. Love has waxed cold as death. Verse 11, "And MANY false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many". I believe the abomination of desolation that stands in the holy place is all the false teachings for financial gain. It stands as being holy but is evil. Except those days be shortened no flesh will be saved to truth. Men are saying see here and there. You ever heard, "The Lord was really in the house last nite"? Men say come and see the Lord at work in our church building. Verse 27, "For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be". How does this happen? The Light/God doesnt move but He thru His power turns the earth/man toward the light. We like the moon have no light of our own but reflect the light of God. As foretold, Spiritual light has been darkened and the moon doesnt reflect His light and the stars/ messengers of God are fallen from truth and the powers are being shaken. I believe this is happening spiritually at this very moment. He is at the very door.

In 1 John he says there are MANY antichrists, even back then and there are many today. ANY who teaches against true Christian doctrine, who sets themselves up as God in their churches, wh seeks popularity and riches rather than seeking to teach the truth and seeking for the lost sheep... these are all false Christs and false prophets... there are MANY today.

The anti-christ does not appear on this earth until Michael the archangel kicks Satan the anti-christ out of heaven at the beginning of the 6th trump. He will be on this earth in person along with his supernatural fallen angels who appear as men also who precede him getting the earth ready for his return.
He is not the pope.
