Because in the dirt hypothesis there is the added element of magical Jehovah fairy dust.

Apparently fairy dust speeds up the genetic mutation rate by a factor of 10 to the 16th power.

The belief is religion solves all contradictions from their perspective.

Any questions - god.
Any answers - god.
Any concerns - god knows best.
Contradictions in fact - the science is wrong, god is right.
(see the spurious opposition to evolution with above posters -- why are there monkeys? and so forth)

While humans did come from simpler forms of life and if you rewind we came from "dirt" (stardust from a nova, actually), there is a huge difference between the theory of evolution and the notion that humans were created in their present form within 10,000 years. One is proven using evidence, and the other is the product of irrational thought.

"We are star stuff." -Carl Sagan

Many of the components that allow life to exist (carbon, amino acids, water), are also found in our planet, and have the right temperatures to get life started. But it was not a jump from one to the other or work from an intelligent hand.

Look at genetics and the similarities between species. If that is not enough to convince believers of evolutionary links, then nothing can. The facts are not selective. You only get dirt if you trace back billions of years.

Dude,

Everybody thinks we come from dirt.

Really, it's what Darwinists and Christians agree on.

What they disagree on is whether the Life to Dirt & Dirt to Life conversion processes evolve naturally or require intellegent design.

we came from dust and God took some of the dust from the Earth that he had ALREADY created to create us...also, you atheists and evolutionists say that something is not true if it has to do with the supernatural, but your own theory relies on the supernatural, because if you follow the "evolution" down the line backwards you will find that you end up with a big bang or somthing similar, and who created the big bang??? If evolution is science then why does it rely on the supernatural to make it work? the supernatural is not just ghosts and spirits, it is also something that is not natural, so nothing turning into something is balony and can not be called science, so either we have a supernatural, (or not of this earth God, who does not play by earth rules and could create himself if he wants because he is supernatural) who created us because he wants a relationship with us, or we come from a supernatural nothing that became something and exploded!! how then do we know what is right and what is wrong if God did not tell us??

Also other religions believe...according to their teaching, that you must do more good then bad to get to heaven, wheras God says that we must be perfect (which we cant be) but God made a way for us and that his son died on the cross for us so that we can go to heaven and have eternal life, and so as christians, we do good stuff anyway, so if the other religions are true than we make it to heaven, and if christianity is true than we go to heaven, and if atheism is true than we rot in a grave...so we have a 100% chance of going to heaven...other religions have a 50% chance, and atheists have a 0% chance...its ur choice...i hope this answers your question...

Lets put the dirt under the microscope and find out. What is in the dirt?
* Water: H2O
* Organic matter composed of Carbon (C), Oxygen (O), and Hydrogen (H)
* Minerals & salts with Sodium, Iron, Calcium, many more...

OK, lets now put the human body under the microscope:
* Basically composed of H2O
* Tissues are formed with lot of C, H, and Os
* I see some calcium at the bones,
* Iron at the blood's hemoglubine, also some sodium salts at blood, urine, and sweat.

I wonder now, from where God took all those elements from to form the human body? Could be from the dirt, mud, soil ?

Please Darth Eugene Vader, do not say that. run another experiment to verify your hipothesis.

Ok, lets allow a dead human body decay for a enough time. Did it turn to dirt? Yes.

OK, Bible must be right.

I am not a Christian but I would just like to say that I don't believe we come from a primate but that we are closely related to primates. There is a difference. I don't believe my great great great great great great great grandfather was a monkey - but I do believe that more than likely he was a neanderthal ... those are two separate creatures ...

As for dirt .. I don't believe I come from dirt either - I believe that when the human race was first created they were nothing but single cell organisms ... with time we evolved.

I am Jewish but I do believe that we evolved. Just looking at pictures of my ancestors I can see differences -- as the world has changes so have its creatures

Because monkey's fling there own fecies and flinging your own fecies is the devil's work.

Acutually I believe that the human race likes to htink of itself as a higher order. That we are above all other life. We would rather believe that we came from inanimate dirt and created with a divine hand than believe that we can be related to something that is 99.9% genetically identical to us.

If we evolved from primates then WHY have no other strange primates ever been found in the wild or in a zoo???

If we evolved from primates then WHY is there no record of any throw backs (monkey babies) being born??

what are the basic components of the body when it is broken down? $3 worth of chemicals and dust.....

How about we take your logic out to its logical endpoint.

Where did the primate come from?

And where did that creature come from?

Eventually, we get back to life springing from the dirt, don't we?

So what's the difference between you and the Christian? None.

If you used your common sense you'd realise that life can be re-created from the elements of the ground (i.e. dust/dirt or whatever you want to call it).

The bible even says that "man returns to the ground at death, dust you was, to dust you will return etc", i.e. he decomposes and turns back into "dust/dirt".

What's so unscientific about that???

If life evolved, where is the proof? Missing links? Why don't you see half man half apes walking about like you see monkeys? I'd harldy think that ape-man wasn't tough enough to survive (survival of the fittest).

They must have a very low self-esteem to think they evolved from dirt.

In fact, they are somewhat right; the first multi-celled living organisms did emerge from the muddy waters... or so I've been told.
