Many christians say that they believe in the afterlife because "there has to be more to life than this". On the other hand, many athiests say that they are happy with life, and don't want to live forever.
Why the difference?

7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:7-11

John the baptist seemed a little bemused when Jesus asked John to baptize him. It makes sense, because Jesus was the true son of God- whereas John the baptist was basically a "regular" man (although he was important, as well).

So why did Jesus ask John to baptize him?

And, did this baptism take place in the river Jordan?

Thank you.

Praise the Lord! : )

I grew up in a Pagan household, with my step-father following an essentially druidic path and my mother being more into hedgewitchery. I'm interested in researching some of the other pagan paths - can anyone explain some to me, or provide names or links for further research?

Thanx!

WE have all seen these people on corners. Screaming they have been spoken to by God,yet we call them mad or nutters.
What if they are right?
2000 years ago, a man did the same thing.
1400 years ago another man did like wise.
These two men started something massive. It grew so big that war and death have happened over what they said.
Why is the man on the street not listened to? He seems very adamant about it.

did they proclaim such falsehoods. The answers will probably include such statements as "light getting brighter" which does not actually explain the fact that Jehovah God's truths have always been clearly explained by those who truly are His spokespersons. If the faithful and discreet slave class didn't receive full and correct knowledge and understanding, then how can truth seekers trust the same organization's so called faithful and discreet slave class today? The true God of the Bible has never allowed false information to be spoken through His organization or His messengers. Those that spoke untruths were always punished. Those that went away from His truths were punished, for example Moses was not allowed into the promise land because of his errors. Wouldn't this be true also of the early presidents of the WBTS?

Below is the first question that has led up to this one.

I went a Christian secondary school and was taught science by Christians, some of them quite devout. All of them, absolutely without exception, would have been horrified if anyone tried to teach the unscientific garbage fantasies of "creation scientists".

More than ten thousand American Christian clergy have signed an internet petition supporting proper science teaching and opposing the teaching of "creationism" in schools.

So where do Creationists get off claiming that opposing science is "Christian"?

Hi, I live in a small town every month we get a little
booklet from the Christian outreach centre.
Anyway to get to the point.
It has some things in it I thought was disgusting.
In an issue about a year ago it said these people mocked
God and look where they are now.
1*Bon Scott from AC/DC mocked God and was found dead
by drowning in vomit.
2*Marilyn Monroe said to someone I don't need your God
and one week later she was found murdered.
There was a couple of others as well but these two stood out the most. But do you think that is digusting like I do that this woman who published this little book could say something as vile as this?
I am Atheist.

If belief is a choice, we should all be able to believe in things despite the knowledge we have on the subject.

So what do you believe or have faith in that reason tells you is false or impossible?
