Hi, I live in a small town every month we get a little
booklet from the Christian outreach centre.
Anyway to get to the point.
It has some things in it I thought was disgusting.
In an issue about a year ago it said these people mocked
God and look where they are now.
1*Bon Scott from AC/DC mocked God and was found dead
by drowning in vomit.
2*Marilyn Monroe said to someone I don't need your God
and one week later she was found murdered.
There was a couple of others as well but these two stood out the most. But do you think that is digusting like I do that this woman who published this little book could say something as vile as this?
I am Atheist.

From what you have said, that doesn't sound like a pamphlet that any reputable Christian organization that I have ever heard of would put out. That sounds more like a chain letter. And, I agree, it is a little disgusting to put something like that in print (or otherwise). Its not true...that is not how God operates.

I would just ignore them and throw them away. If you are interested in getting the facts, go to a reputable church or just look n the Bible to get the answers for yourself. Just my opinion.

Hope it helps.

I really don't like it. I am a Christian but that's ridiculous. There are some outrageous Christians out there like there are outrageous atheists, etc in the world. What I find strange is that these people passionately believe they are right. Who's to say they're wrong though? The point is they're pretty fricking scary. I don't like that little booklet. It's not even coincidence, I'm sure Marilyn had been saying she was an atheist for a long time before her death.

This does not line up with the proper way where Christians are empowered by the Holy Spirit to witness (Acts 1:8). The biblical way is to minister to the needs of the person by the power of the Holy Spirit. When the person is convicted by the Holy Spirit he will receive Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Without God's power of witness and using fear will not get someone truly saved.

I am not thrilled
this sounds like scare tactics, which do not ever have the result you want, no matter the subject or reason.
I am so sorry this was sent to your home
As a Christian myself, I would have shared that Jesus had made my life better, not some name dropping and horror stories.
Please remember this about Christians:
we worship a Higher God
but we sure aren't one!
there are a bunch of humans involved, and sometimes, it really shows!
Also, not all that claim Christianity really are believers.
I really wish they would have put more thought into what they were presenting...
that's not what Christianity is all about.

and thank you for not judging as you said, it would have been easy to

The real problem here is that a lot of member of the church believe in the idol and not in the ideal.
You do not need to belong to any religion or to believe in any god to believe in the ideals such as fraternity, do unto others, etc. But a lot of member lose sight of that; they prefer to believe that there are some actions that are correct and some that are incorrect based entirely on what they understand on the believes.
Talk to someone who knows about theology. They will confirm that god will have nothing to do with those people death (as well as nothing to do with people alive). People that try to use fear into coerce someone in religion should be banned from any of such institutions.

That is only a coincidence.

Being a Christian and a Catholic devotee, I read the Bible. I clearly staes that God is a kind, loving, merciful and understanding God. He doesn't punishes people for not believing in him because he gives you the free will on which and what to believe. He only punishes us when we do something very wrong. He is a merciful God...Trust me.....

I've lived under God's presence for 13 years now(yup...I'm still 13)...and for all those years, I never experienced God to punish me through death or any other heavy punishments despite of my failures, lack of faith and trust....I grew up to love God...

trust me....those are just coincidences...hey, they can happen unbelievingly!

These things actually did happen....these people mocked God...and they actually did die. And I also read that little pamphlet thing too....(I got it) Yet i don't entirely agree that their mockery of God was caused them to die. They were living in sin their whole life. These particular instances where these people mocked God, in my opinion are not what cause them to die. I just feel that this gives the impression that God is merciless and kills people on the spot if they mock Him, -which we can clearly see, that He doesn't. (Because people do that all the time) Yet He is abounding in mercy. The rest of that passage wasn't mentioned and to me it just looked like someone wrote that to put fear in people's hearts to not mock God. Which is something you shouldn't do....because there are consequences.....but still? They just neglected to mention the rest of the passage. Be not deceived, God cannot be mocked,-for whatsoever a man soweth, that also he shall reap. This is what that mean, you will reap what you sow. Meaning, people who walk around sowing to their flesh, and the sinful desires of the flesh...will reap destruction. Because the wages of sin is death. But people who sow to the spirit, reap eternal life.

Being a Christian, yes. It's giving the wrong view that we all want people who don't believe in God to die by the worst means possible.

Who am I to claim to know all the things God can and does do? Is it God or is it Karma getting them?

The same can be said of the Superman actors.

The ***** is just trying to scare people. The problem for her is: it has the opposite affect.

Most Chrisitan sects would look at this and be completely disgusted with it. They don't promote that sort of thing.

I'm a Christian, and I don't condone that either. That is not what Jesus taught about bring others to Him. Someone being 'scared into believing' doesn't truly believe, so that way of going about it is pointless.
