What about when two twins in the womb absorb one another and become one zygote? (Yes, this does happen early on in pregnancy, more often than most would think). Does the resulting baby have 2 souls? If not, did one soul go away? Did the surviving twin kill his other twin? Since they say the soul enters upon conception, two fertilized eggs merging MUST have two souls, what happens to the extra?

That would depend on what religion you ask. This isn't the best place to ask. You're not going to get a straight answer, since the bible mentions nothing of a person's soul in special conditions like being born of the same egg in mitosis (twins), or cloning from stem cells (clones). These were not discussed in those days, and for the most part, you can still only get shady answers for a question like this. Trust me, if I could give you a straight answer, I would. But this is as straight as I can get: 1) twins would each have their own soul, since god creates the soul, assumedly before birth, but 2) clones, being created by man, could not duplicate the soul, which has no vital organs that would contain it. In all truth, clones could not have a soul, since only God can grant a person a soul. This is as straight and spiritually logical an answer as I could possibly give you. Your question was a challenging one, but I hope my answer was at least somewhat helpful!

No, they are full souled creations. There is no such thing as a clone. In order for a clone to be an absolute copy, the environment has to be identical to the environment that the host cells came from. Even if the DNA is identical, it doesn't make them a clone. You are who you are, what you are by the choices you make everyday. A clone would still have a mind of its own.

As twins are said to have a certain 'connection' saying each of them having half soul each may not be incorrect.
How about we think this way,Siamese Twins. Two bodies totally connected. It's called two bodies technically cause they(subject) has two brains and certain body parts. However these type of twins usually have their own character and feelings about things.Best I can say like their bodies their souls went their seperate ways.

okay, I see where you're coming from, but i look at it this way:
yes they start from the same egg & sperm, but if souls were assigned by cell counts, wouldn't we posses a soul for every cell of our being? Therefor, regardless of the origins, one human has one soul, even if they were miraculously created from the same egg & sperm as there brother or sister.
It is actually a pretty good question, I wasn't trying to mock earlier, It's just as a mom of twins, I deal with people who treat them as one person when they would never treat regular siblings that way, so I get a little touchy :)

Identical Twins each have their own soul. They they just look alike. I would imagine that a clone would have its own soul but I cannot say for sure since its science made.

If you're asking this kind of a trivial question...
Do people with dwarfism only have a quarter of a soul?
Do triplets only have a third of a soul?
Here's a good one, do twins suffering from dwarfism only have an eighth of a soul?
Huh, huh. You can't answer can you. Because the theory of a soul is so antiquated and useless in modern society. It was conjured by religious leaders in an attempt to scare their followers into doing what they thought was right. So don't worry about it. There is NO SOUL. We are dust in the wind.

lol, not sure about that... what is a soul? what makes a person a person? is a soul, the ability of choice? is it feelings of right and wrong? if so, then yes, twins and clones alike have souls, but if that is correct, then not just humans are entitled to have souls.

From the answers on here, one can see that Christians do not, indeed, believe that ensoullation occurs on fertilization. One wonders then, when the soul IS given to the zygote... Since it doesn't happen immediately, if idential twins can each have their own soul rather than splitting the one that as given on fertilization. And one must then wonder why they oppose early-stage abortion.

I think not. Because identical twins have their own organs and all that comes along with that. So, each has their own soul.
