I had this one guy give an answer that said most atheists are teenagers and young adults who read an article or two and just make a descision not to believe in god without getting the facts. What are your thoughts on that?

us as Christians should be known for the fruits of the spirit which is number 1: LOVE and have patience. so would you go out into your neighborhood and offer to clean up someones backyard, mow, or just serve them in a way that they would be blessed by? Why do we as Christians not get out and show that God loves everyone, so I encourage you to do something for someone.. maybe not now but later

First, on agnosticism.
Agnosticism is not a fence-sitter, nor are they wishy-washy. They most definately are not trying to decide whether or not the christian god is real. In my case, I in no way believe in the christian god. I am agnostic because I don't write off the concept of god(s) completely. As far as world religions go, I'm more atheist than anything.

Second, on atheism.
Atheism is not a religion. It requires no ritual, no worship. Some do "preach" it with religious zeal, but that's fighting fire with fire. You can thank religion for that, because without theists, atheists would not exist.

And finally, for those of you that can't or won't look beyond your misconceptions, you're assuming way too much about both groups. And we all know what that does. We don't "know the truth but deny it." We don't "fear being held accountable for actions." We simply disagree with you, and are vocal about it because we have as much a right to our views as you do to yours.

to thier definition of what's plausible?
You really think the Government or NASA is going to tell the general public what they encounter in space? you don't trust what they say on the War in Iraq or on Terrorism but you have all hands up they will tell you about UFO's?
My interest in it is because it also speaks of Celestial Battles in the heavens...
Thank you but I constantly read and then make up my mind from all points of views.. you are just CLOSE MINDED to everything *why *because you deny GOD or because you are a Scientist or a Astronaut?
Some of you that respond with rude remarks are not even 21 by your profiles,,, no wonder that next generation is in serious trouble..
Did not mean to be rude..but why not open your eyes to other things?

Most seek to not be judged, yet, will spend their entire time on this forum defending the judgement of Christians and Christianity. Then they will say that Christians have brought this onto themselves. Is that a copout or what?

As an atheist you should not believe in anything? Not science not water, not air. Just follow facts.
So you're belief system is science. What ever science comes up with you believe?
What is so different between you and Christians who follow their own book?

This question is only to the real Atheists.

If we just die... then what is the point of all the things we went through while we are alive... Wouldn't life be kind of a waste?

Our society looks harshly on those who act with intolerance towards minorites, gays, buddhists, pagans and many other people with differing ideologies and beliefs and yet when it comes to christians many people seem content to cast the first stone against them or at christianity in general. Why do you think that is?

It seems like christianity has become one of the most intolerated, unacceptable things to be these days and many, many people are extremely ignorant about christianity in general and act hatefully, spitefully and with snide towards christians and christianity.

Of course thats not to say their cant be ignorant christians, there are and can be, but why do you think for christianity in particular, this mindset has become acceptable while many other religions are not targeted with such animosity? Something we should all think about...

This guy claims to be the second coming of Christ, and claims to be the anti-Christ..."which to him is the next incarnation of Jesus on earth, not an evil being. To show their devotion, some followers ink themselves with "666."

This guy is perplexing...we have crazy televangelists like Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, Robert Tilden, James Dobson, etc.....and while these guys are all just as crazy...at least, they are good speakers, they can quote the Bible to support their misdirected theology. You can almost understand how they can sway people to support them

But, this Jesus dude is not a good speaker...he does not quote the Bible well. He is honest about his lack of education, about his wealth/trinkets given to him, about his drinking, smoking, etc... and people still blindly follow this guy, get tattooed with 666, and give a lot of money to him

Any idea how this guy can manipulate so many with such limited talent?

I don't mean to make anyone upset. I am really trying to understand something. I have a friend who is Catholic and simply gave me the "The church said it, so it's right." answer.

So, perhaps people here can help me. What is the evidence of the assumption of the Virgin Mary, the Perpetual Virginity, and the Immaculate Conception? I really mean no disrespect. I am really just curious to see how this teaching came along being that it is one of the major things that divides the Catholic and Protestant sects of Christianity.

I just read Christopher Hitchen's book, "God is Not Great", and I find his frank and blunt style kind of appealing, but does it get us anywhere? I guess I am not sure where an uprising of atheism can really attain. Yet, being silent won't work either, we will just get run over by the zeleots. Any thoughts?
