Hubbard himself has already been quoted as saying "Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous. If a man really wants to make a million dollars, the best way would be to start his own religion", and it's been said that he was involved in a bet concerning who could start their own religion. It seems that Hubbard won.

Most Scientologists don't like hearing this, though. They tend to react with the equivalent of sticking their fingers in their ears and saying "la la la, vicious lies, I can't hear you, la la la".
