Beliefs amongst atheists differ, but for me, no. I don't believe in a higher power or an afterlife or anything like that.

To be an atheist, one must fail to believe in any form of gods. Most would consider a "higher power/consciousness" a form of deity. You do not even have to assert that there is no god, you just don't believe in any.
Other than that, there are no defining characteristics for all atheists. For example, I believe in a sort of afterlife. Most atheists do not, but that is completely up to the individual.

No, I don't think there is some higher conscious power that created or is controlling the universe, whether in the judeo-christian image or any other sort. I don't think that an afterlife is likely to exist, however, I don't think we have answers to all the questions in the universe, either. We can only go by what evidence we have right now, which seems to point to "no".

I don't believe in a conscious higher power, although I think nature is awe-inspiring. I think the idea of an all-powerful consciousness is belittling to the wonder of the universe.
I don't believe in an afterlife.
I think humans' place in the universe is extremely humble. I cannot conceive of a creator of all that is in the cosmos being concerned with such a petty existence as ours. I can understand how uneducated cavemen without telescopes might have come to that conclusion, though.

Good question...Your answers will depend on who you ask because all atheists have different beliefs.
I do not believe in any sort of supreme being or personal god(s). I refer to myself as a spiritual atheist.
I believe that we have some form of a 'soul' but not necessarily a soul as defined in the Christian or religious sense.
I do not believe in Heaven but I do believe something happens when we die. Whether it be reincarnation, our spirits become one with nature, etc...I'm not sure. I think this fact (the afterlife) is unknowable at this time. Perhaps, hopefully one day we (as a society) will know.

I can't speak for all atheists.
But I don't believe there's anything supernatural in the Universe.
No gods, no devils.
No afterlife.
No magic, no miracles.
I DO believe in things I can't experience directly. For example, I believe in atoms, even though I've never seen one. That's because saying "the universe is made of atoms" actually MEANS something. It predicts the universe will behave in specific, verifiable ways that we can test and prove through experiments.
Saying that an invisible, intangible, unquantifiable Sky Daddy exists, but not in any way we can measure and prove, says NOTHING.

I'm an agnostic, meaning I regard these issues as unaswerable, more in the domain of speculation and belief than objective fact. But to answer your question atheists do believe - no other word for that - that they possess absolute knowledge as to all of these things. They believe that humans are simply more advanced life-forms than amoeba, with no more ultimate significance. Obviously their's is an unattractive belief system with a limited following, and can be expected to remain so,particularly given that they have no proof of their convictions but nevertheless present them as presumed fact.

I don't believe in any supernatural creator, nor do I believe in the afterlife. Humans have the most developed minds on our Earth, which gives us the ability to wonder and hope, which is why we created "god".

I don't believe in anything supernatural.
If you say there's a supernatural being, you have to prove it to me... where is he, what does he consume for energy, where did he come from?
These are legitimate questions that "god is spirit" does not answer satisfactorily for me. What, then, is spirit??
I believe death is the end. Wasn't birth the beginning? If not, what is the before-life?? Waiting in line in some spirit-limbo?
The natural universe has natural (scientific) explanations.
I hope this helps.
