If you read so much you would know that Scientists, in general, are Skeptics. And this generalization that all Atheists accept or do not accept certain things really gets you nowhere. This would be like me saying that all Christians are like the Phelps clan and would rather bury a soldier because he doesn't like the homosexual down the street.
Being close-minded has nothing to do with believing or not believing in your version of God. Close-mindedness depends solely on the individual and how they react to new information.
And age really has nothing to do with rude remarks... I know old men in their 70's that would put these rude remarks to shame.

Atheists refuse to believe anything that does not fit in to thier definition of what's plausible?
Ummm, well... yeah. If it isn't likely to be real or existant...then why believe in it?
As for the UFO rant you are on. I think other life in the universe is possible. I never said I didn't. But you are speaking as a conspiracy theorist.
Because I deny a belief in God, according to you, this makes me closed-minded to everything? How very "open-minded" of you!

In general, I don't get you but the vastness of space is a serious argument against ETs. If some technology (even theoretical) can be shown that allows for interstellar travel, then there is some merit to considering alien visitations.
Until then, I'm skeptical (even though I have seen a UFO).

Maybe atheists just don't NEED guilt. Fundies are an example of how often the last thing a man will give up, is his SUFFERING. (Gurdjieff, George I. ) Suffering justifies his life; suffering gives him an excuse to resent the surrounding world as "evil" ; sometimes suffering justifies drinking it all away in a pool of alcohol (I was an example).; suffering was the theme of Job, the first bible book written (in time, not in edited order). In place of floating guilt, imposed on us by "Original Sin", an atheist can properly feel remorse in a cause-and-effect way, if s/he wrongs someone; or has experienced social shame out of ignorant behavior or violation of a common norm. All that an atheist avoids is the nameless, blameless guilt from just bering born human. That is rational. Christian guilt is irrational, an excess and useless burden. Familiar with the antipsychiatrist R.D. Laing? He wrote "Knots", which are little thought imbroglios that expose the dislogic and bad communication inherent in religion. Example, patterned after his book: "God wants me to love Him. I should not love Him just because it's what he wants and commands. I should love him naturally, because of who He is. I should not fear Hell, to make me love God. But avoiding Hell is all I think of...." ...or>... An Act of Perfect Contrition: Oh my God, I am sorry for all of my sins--Not so much because these sins bring suffering and Hell to me; but because they have crucified my loving Savior, Jesus Christ, and offended Thy Infinite Goodness". Could anyone be HONEST in saying such a prayer of contrition? Remember, you cannot lie to God!!

Don't you find it ironic that Christians think that God is the ONLY answer, and that Atheists must not believe in anything, just because they don't believe in god?
Not believing in your version of god - or anyone's version -doesn't make us closeminded - I'm actually quite a liberal person, and open to a lot of different things.
I do not mean to be rude either, but perhaps you should actually try to meet some atheists in real life offline, not make assumptions based on what's posted in a what is actually a quite limited and closed community. After all, the percentage of people who actually use the internet is still quite small.
I believe in quite a number of things - I just don't happen to believe your version of god is the correct one for me.
This entire question was asked from a closeminded point of view, do you realize that?

And atheism isn't about UFOs. Do you actually understand the concept of atheism? You know the first rule of a good argument is "know thy enemy." You, frankly, have no effing idea.

I do not deny the possibility of UFOs and/or government cover-ups. Personally, I would love it if it were true. Without the evidence to the affermative it's silly for me to speculate blindly.

It is good to be opened-minded enough to let in fresh ideas, such as logic, reason, and science...however, it is catastrophic to be so open-minded that anything bizarre, irrational, and ridiculous such as New Age doctrines, traditional religions, and/or urban legends can wander in and take up shop in one's intellect.
Actually, I find it hilarious that a Christian, given the sheer absurdity of the beliefs that someone of that faith maintains, would be complaining that atheists are closed-minded.

NASA would be positively thrilled to uncover evidence for extraterrestrial life. It would be a very difficult secret to keep.
You're a deluded loonbag, understand?
A beginning course in evolutionary biology will tell you why aliens with human anatomy is beyond implausible.
Read a damn scifi book and be pleased enough with that. You don't have to try and make it real.

No. In fact, I think it's ironic that christians refuse to believe in anything that does not point to god being responsible for it if it is a good thing, and satan for the other stuff.
