Because most of the fish would have been dead too. Freshwater fish can't survive salt water. Saltwater fish can't survive freshwater. So you're left with a few species of brackish-water fish who are adapted to life in shallow water suddenly being expected to live in an incredibly deep ocean. And like the other guy said, the plants would be dead too, so a lot of them would starve.
But that wasn't the point you were making. :)
Also, if all the species were on the Ark, that means all the diseases were on the Ark too. That includes STDs like syphillis and gonnorhea. So which of Noah's family had the clap?

I was told that Noah had two of every kind of animals in the ark...so he must have had fish too in a wittle fish bowl.
EDIT: Mr. Sunshine: Where did STDs come from in this whole matter?

The part I don't get is if that happened why are there still plants? I'm pretty sure if the world flooded all the plants would die of salt and lack of CO2.
