yes to the big bang, no to monkeys - great apes.... no we did not come from two people, do the math, there is close to 4.7 billion people, that would mean at the rate of pregnancy and death, everyone ever born would have to have between 8 and 12 kids each.. now to say that is just plain dumb.

We are skeptical and need some level of proof to believe in anything. That doesn't mean we don't believe in some things. For example evolution. I have never seen it happen on a macro scale, but I understand the mechanisms of heredity combined with population dynamics (both of which are easily seen) and I can extrapolate macro evolution from micro-evolution (something even the most ardent creationist agree occur).

As far as the big bang, the red shift of galaxies is observable. The big bang is far the best explanation I have ever seen.

How come there has never been a scientific paper that has stood the test of time, that discredit either of those two theories? You should seek the truth based on reality.

Strictly speaking, nothing, since belief is only needed when you have no evidence. Atheists and other reasoning people have more or less confidence in certain facts depending only on the evidence for or against them.

We also have at least as good a moral sense as any believer, just not because of any supernatural commandments. Morality arises naturally from the experience of living in social groups, where altruism has a proven survival advantage for the group (yes, even morality evolves over time).

No, I don't believe in the Big Bang or Evolution.

I know for a fact that they are true, because the evidence is overwhelmingly conclusive.

Belief is for things for which you have no evidence. Either I have evidence for a thing, or I simply hold no opinion either way. I do not operate on a process of belief.

-----------

No, we don't come from Adam and Eve.

"... all the people, living for today..." I would find it rather scary to have nothing more than the here and now. I have had too many personal experiences not to believe in the spirit world, but I have met those who don't believe. It must be lonely. They're just normal people who believe that this is all there is. Maybe when I die I can stay long enough to say 'boo' to a few atheists, just to let them know that we are not alone.

We believe in a lot of things. Just not gods.

Belief in the big bang, yes.
Belief that we evolved from monkeys, no. The theory of evolution does not say that we evolved from monkeys. Simians and humans evolved alongside each other, from a common ancestor.

Evolution and the Big Bang. They don't believe in any kind of creationism or intelligent design of the universe.

Atheists believe that god was invented by man to personify the supernatural.

That's all they have in common. Whether they believe in evolution or the Big Bang theory has nothing to do with Atheism.

Personally, I believe in the process of evolution based on the fossil record. I don't know how life began, or I would've written my Master's Thesis on it.

NOT that people evolved from monkeys, there was a common ancestor. This isn't a belief, there's proof.
