I've seen too many times the argument against evolution because it supposedly teaches social Darwinism - the belief that the strong should kill off the weak, whether that means the poor or the "less superior" races.

The theory of evolution is not a philosophy, but a heavily backed scientific explanation of how life changes (which is fact). By saying evolution is something to "believe in," you are equating it to a religion, which is incorrect. Quoting a phrase I read somewhere, "the truth doesn't pick sides," whether good or evil comes from it.

Believers and nonbelievers alike say we can't be 100% certain of something we weren't there to see. Therefore, we must study the facts we are given, and base conclusions off of them. Agree?

I liked the book and the whole take on the whole of history being very different to the actual view we see today. Angels and Demons was good too.

Think about this for a second. Trolls are usually level 1's cause they make accounts just to troll and target people to get the violations/suspensions. If you are serious about getting up in levels, you can get to level 2 in three days if you don't ask questions, answer all you can, and vote all you can. If level 1's weren't able to file false abuse reports, then trolls wouldn't be able to target people. If something really warrants to be removed, can't you count on the serious answers members to report them?

What do you think? I put a suggestion in the suggestion forum...but you know how that goes.

Because we are following corrupt scripture, and not the teachings of Jesus or the word of God. If you read properly you can see that much of the scripture is preaching hatred to fellow mankind.

You won't discover your life's meaning by looking within yourself, because you were created by God, for His purpose, not your own. You discover your identity and purpose through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Ponder this:
If there were no God, and everything was a result of random chance, there would be no purpose to your life. It all starts with God, who created you.

Im a baptists and ive always wondered why catholics focus their prayers around the virgin mary and why not Jesus? Jesus is the son of God! God asked us to pray to him through Jesus NOT mary, so why is mary idolised soo much in catholic culture? Also what is up with the vatican? it seems like the devil has a throne there! why would gay priests be allowed or even considered?...it seems to me they are trying to re-write the bible to suit their own preferences.
I dont want to offend anyone, i just want some answers!

Armies cannot exist independent of a nation, and a nation is nothing more than people working collectively. Civilians supply the army with food, clothing, weapons, and other material support. Not only that, but civilians also provide the soldier with moral support and encouragement. Civilians reassure the soldier that he is doing something worth doing, and don't give up, and tell him to be proud, because he is loved and respected.

It is the civilians who make war possible.

Concept of Hell
Pope John Paul redifines century old concepts of hell.

Wednesday, July 28, 1999
(This is an unedited, uncorrected transcript.)
PETER JENNINGS Finally from us this evening, it was not the heat that made us focus tonight on the concept of
Hell, we promise. It was actually Pope John Paul’s views on Hell, which he stated today. Just a week after he said that
Heaven is not some place up in the clouds, the Pope says that Hell is not “down there.” ABC’s Bill Blakemore, who
covers the Vatican for us, understands these matters.
BILL BLAKEMORE, ABCNEWS (VO) It’s the power of art the Pope is reacting to. Catholics have never taught that
Hell is a physical place, but a state you put yourself in by cutting yourself off from God. But down through the
centuries, artists were looking for ways to help make that spiritual state feel real. And over the years, many people
absorbed the art as the real thing.

In religion, we have free will while at the same time having a set course. Yeah, I know, confusing, and then it occured to me. We may have a set course, but we can choose which courses to take in our many choices. If we make one decision, then the path is already set until we come to the next decision. For example, you can choose to either steal or not steal. If you steal, the time from point a to point b is set and will stay that way until you have to make another decision, even small ones. Does anyone else think of it like this?

prince Lucifer could have stayed in heavan yet he blieved that man should be able to make choices for himself and participate in the instinct that god gave man.

Prince Lucifer stood up to God and was casted into hell. I worship the prince because he brings peace to many peoples lives and encourages them to enjoy life and nature as we were created to do.

Now people want to make him out to be evil? How is protecting our RIGHT to enjoy what we were given an evil thing?

Ever since ive given my life to the prince , my life has been better, more prosperous, I am happier and so are my family. We Make more money have a wonderful home and 3 new cars and a sports car.

I thank satan for opening my eyes. So should you

I've found very troubling some of the comments posted by muslim participants to many R&S question, for example one question at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjvFdmE08kVuQt4vN4gT2Kbsy6IX?qid=20070811071502AARXdD5&show=7#profile-info-6KYsf5KRaa
It is true that this is a small, unrepresentative sampling, but they are disquieting nonetheless. e.g.
- "Why are we so much in love with this world? Why do you regoice about this life when it gets shorter every hour?"
- "the ummah is drwoning into love to their life and forgetting about the more importnat afterlife"
- "We Muslims who live in the west a beset on all sides to revel in this life, and forget the next. It is a shame (..) I do wish that those who are Muslim, but don't live Islam would wear a sign around their neck, so we could tell the difference"

Another way to ask this question could be: "Why is it difficult for muslims to at least appreciate their present life at least as much as an hypothetical afterlife?"

I was wondering what would you have thought was the best solution to this problem?

It happened last winter, during a particularly cold snap (our climate is usually fairly temperate even in winter), I went with a friend who is a social worker to do a home visit...when we arrived it was to a partially wrecked home next to a bayou out in the country...since Hurricane Katrina has left many ill-housed in the last two years, this is no shocker)...smoke billowed out of the door of the dwelling and an old man was dipping water out of the bayou to put out the source of the fire...they had tried to build a fire in an old stove but had inadequate pipe, so the smoke was coming back into the house...a baby was sitting in the driveway in a play pen unattended...the situation was one of squalor and hopelessness...the temperature was due to dip into the 20s that night...so my friend reluctantly called the department of human services to come to get the baby...she hated to do it...(cont)

i remember seeing a bible quote on tv, not exactly sure what chapter. it said "he who believes in me(God i'm guessing, or jesus) shall recieve eternal life". i don't get this because: most christians i have met are under the assumption that atheists go to hell, right? but if they go to hell eternally, isn't that technically eternal life with out believing in God???
