According to Canon Law, any male Catholic can be chosen as pope. Realistically, however, you must become a priest, then be ordained a bishop, then have the honorary title of Cardinal bestowed upon you (by the pope), then be elected as pope by the other Cardinals in what is called a "conclave".

From: The Catechism Of The Catholic Church:

CCC 880 - When Christ instituted the Twelve, "he constituted [them] in the form of a college or permanent assembly, at the head of which he placed Peter, chosen from among them." Just as "by the Lord's institution, St. Peter and the rest of the apostles constitute a single apostolic college, so in like fashion the Roman Pontiff, Peter's successor, and the bishops, the successors of the apostles, are related with and united to one another."
CCC 881 - The Lord made Simon alone, whom he named Peter, the "rock" of his Church. He gave him the keys of his Church and instituted him shepherd of the whole flock. "The office of binding and loosing which was given to Peter was also assigned to the college of apostles united to its head." This pastoral office of Peter and the other apostles belongs to the Church's very foundation and is continued by the bishops under the primacy of the Pope.
CCC 882 - The Pope, Bishop of Rome and Peter's successor, "is the perpetual and visible source and foundation of the unity both of the bishops and of the whole company of the faithful." "For the Roman Pontiff, by reason of his office as Vicar of Christ, and as pastor of the entire Church has full, supreme, and universal power over the whole Church, a power which he can always exercise unhindered."

First of all you have to be a Catholic priest. You'll need some medieval robes and a pointy hat. It helps if you're Italian but not absolutely required. Work your way up the hierarchy to bishop, arch-bishop and then become a cardinal. Hang around until the current pope dies -- have patience, it's a tenured position and these guys seem to live forever. Then get the other cardinals to vote you into the popeship. A bit of back office arm twisting is probably necessary. Good luck.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. People of color need not apply for the popeship. Nothing personal but equal opportunity has not arrived at the Catholic church.

Sorry, yet that on my own is like one considerable strike against you. uncertain precisely, yet I do have faith that's good to be a Arch-bishop; who're monks and extra some. that's kinda a electoral equipment. Theirs a council of Arch-bishops? who elect the pope, from fellow Arch-bishops?, i think of. uncertain, yet I do keep in mind the completed burning in spite of in Rome. that's some seen clue to the exterior to instruct this and basically this. If a sparkling pope has been declared or no longer. including: Sorry for being incorrect interior the business company that that's cardinals that settle on, sorry.

I think you have to go to Catholic seminary and become a priest first, then something else, then something else, and you have to be voted Pope by the Cardinals I think... I'm not sure of the order of it all...

But you can't become pope unless the current pope dies.

You have to be an old and respected cardinal of the catholic church who is trusted enough to be elected as pope by his peers (and usually needs to know Latin, most often Italian heiritage).

Join any church, and become a leader.

You did say 'a' pope, not 'the' pope.

Invent a new religion, or go through the Vatican and priesthood, but it will probably take about 60 years to get there.
