I've seen too many times the argument against evolution because it supposedly teaches social Darwinism - the belief that the strong should kill off the weak, whether that means the poor or the "less superior" races.
The theory of evolution is not a philosophy, but a heavily backed scientific explanation of how life changes (which is fact). By saying evolution is something to "believe in," you are equating it to a religion, which is incorrect. Quoting a phrase I read somewhere, "the truth doesn't pick sides," whether good or evil comes from it.
Believers and nonbelievers alike say we can't be 100% certain of something we weren't there to see. Therefore, we must study the facts we are given, and base conclusions off of them. Agree?

I agree some may have faith evolution exists, but evolution in itself is not a faith. It is subject to change and even falsification if given adequate evidence. Faith in something does not require evidence. Evolution has plenty.
Evolution does not equal the Big Bang theory or atheism. Stop trying to spread your misconceptions.

You will never get a decent answer in this section. Although you make some valid points about the common misconceptions made by all these bible bangers (oops did I just type that?) Anyway look at the low quality answers you received and all the abuse; you did prove your point.
To all the naive people in this section!! Education is great and opens doors for the future of this planet. So please for the sake of education diversify your knowledge.
As a side note what is wrong with poster number #1(Jihad Jill) and why has that answer not been deleted? Also, I don't think they understand the historical significance behind the word Jihad, if they did they wouldn't use it! So here you go..... Americans encouraged, supported, and trained Islamic extremists in the Afghanistan/Russian war during the 1970's (our government wanted to give Russia it's own Vietnam). So, yes the modern era Jihad was created by our own CIA. The CIA funded the whole thing by encouraging Afghans to grow opium and helped them distribute it all over the world including the U.S. Therefore, we can thank our government for the current problems with modern terrorism.

What has happened is the theories are being taught as facts.
If one goes far enough on theories, he evidently believes they are truths. This is a deceit and a lie.
I promise you that millions and billions of years makes me want to vomit. It is as if I am being forced to believe and accept garbage.
How life changes is natural and evironmental and we have always believed in this. That reptile changing to a cow and that cow changing to a human is what cannot be proven. An ape becoming a man cannot be proven. Life coming from a bowl of soup cannot be proven.
It takes life to give life. Your quote "the truth doesn't pick sides whether good or evil comes from it," sounds good if you can tell me what truth is.
My belief of truth is that Jesus said, "I am truth." Jesus also said, "I am life." Jesus also said that He and the Father God have no evil or darkness in them.
We don't know where God came from because God says that He has always been around. The Bible even starts, "In the beginning God."
We do know that it takes life to give life. The Bible also teaches that "life" is in the blood. Without blood there is no sustaining life in carnal man. I believe also in spiritual life, but again that is not what you are talking about with evolution.
These millions and billions of years of evolution don't explain the erosion of Niagara Falls. The Mississippi River flowing into the Gulf of Mexico and the quantity of sediment. The population of the world that seems to double every 35 years. When you back it up it matches with the Bible and not with evolution. If a river cut the Grand Canyon where is the sediment, the dirt? Why does the whole world know about Noah's flood?
I see evolution as nothing else but trying to get God out of the equation even to lying about those ever changing species such as Pilt Down Man, Nebraska Man, etc. Without the transitional species where is the Evolution theory? Darwin is a dead horse.

I could desire to accept as true with the 1st person that replied the question. a deadly disease can mutate, yet that doesn't advise that individuals will. If we've been going to evolve, why are we nevertheless developed right into a much better species yet? I basically don't think interior the Darwin theory.

What evidence, cite cases, studies, archeological finds, we DON'T BELIEVE THAT THERE IS SUFFICIENT EVIDENCE SUPPORTING IT
Christian = c
Atheist = A
C: Where did life come from?
A: "random chance in a pool of carbon"
C: Where did the pool of carbon come from?
A:"the big bang which started the universe"
C: where did the matter that was the period sized dot that started the big bang come from...........
A:"OH yea well where did GOD come from?"
C: hes always been there
A:"well maybe the matter has always been there too!"
C: OK. Then we're agreed, neither of us can scientifically explain where life came from, thus we are both accepting it on faith.
Edit @ additional details -- ok, strictly speaking to evolution, howcome the earliest (as in oldest) fossil records we have the creatures appear fully formed, not counting soft-shelled molusk (though those are fully formed as well)
Also, christianity is under the same condition, though it is not subject to change as any change would falsify it, it IS subject to falsification.
P.S. People that give me bad ratings because they disagree with my opinion are close minded and hypocritical. Give me a thumbs down if you know information I provide to be inaccurate or offensive.

I love dinosaurs too much not to believe in evolution. Velociraptors are my favourite! And the formation of the universe is so facsinating, the stars, the black holes, the super novas, the planets and nebulas and dark energy, and dark matter. Its all amazing!

It's not a bad philosophy, but maybe it is one that should be approached and handled with more care. If there is evidence to support our evolution from ape to human that cannot be questioned, please submit it. Until then, it will be a hypothesis and should be taught as such to the general public. I see science as a blessing, but let's not latch on to every hypothesis Tom, Dick, or Harry throws out on the table and pass it off as fact until we know the full truth.

There has probably been some minor changes in kinds over the centuries, maybe though adaptation but the resulting kinds would be able to breed with their parent kind, or be sterile. One or the other. I can't comprehend any other situation.

Evolution theories change so fast that schools couldn't possibly keep up.
Now they don't even believe they came from monkeys.
I guess much like evolution, we will have to wait a billion years for them to evolve into christians and figure it out.
