It make no difference to the ultimate truth, of course, since it is merely of the Bible and the Koran, but because the answer links the two and was chosen best by the questioner, I'm curious to hear some opinions...

I'm not clueless; I know who Jesus is, was, who he said he was, who we say he is, etc.

But I still want to know what you think.

Who is Jesus?

If you have an answer, be it one of faith, doubt, reason, whatever, BACK IT UP with whatever has led you to that conviction.

forbidden tree? God forbade Adam to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, warning him that he would surely die if he did. The serpent persuaded Eve to eat from the tree and "she got Adam to eat from the tree. So if they hadn't of eaten from the tree.

Would we all still be living in Eden?

Would human existence be unknowledgable of good & Evil?

Would we all still be walking around naked?

Would wome still suffer in childbirth?

Would we have to work?

Would we all live forever?

A lot of questions I know

... it's sad that there aren't more serious religious/spiritual questions and answers in this category? There seems to be more bickering between the Christians and the Atheists than real conversation about religious issues. We don't all have to agree - in fact, wouldn't it be a boring world if we did? - but there's just so much disrespect and talking down to each other. Surely we're more intelligent than that?

The central concept of all religions is (or at least should be) taking care of each other. Is everyone doing their part? If not, why do you feel this doesn't apply to you?

This is for Americans really. Did anyone here have a teacher that decided to skip it or gloss over it? And did anyone have a science teacher that tried to teach creationism?

I'm British btw. I understand what the law is in America but I'm just wondering how it works in practice. What was your experience?

For the Bible and the Christian, there is www.biblegateway.com but what about other religions. Do you have an online website where your the book you use as your religious reference can be accessed for free?

But for other religions are there websites where a person can read the equivalent of your religious holy book, such as for the Muslim or the Buddhist or Jewish faith?

I'm writing a devotional and I need some help. The devotional is based on the phrase, "You shouldn't care what others think of you." My God-brought thought" makes me think that that's not necesarily true. It's good to care, to some degree, what others think of you. I won't elaborate any more; if you really need to see the devotion, ask for it and I'll include it in extra details. But I need a verse or passage about God's thoughts, or anything else that applies to this devoi. Thanks!

Isn't sleeping with your brother and sister(family in general)wrong ?so how could adam and eve be the first and only man and woman on earth. To increase population the had to sleep with there family...... I could see if this was ok to do but this naturally feels wrong to most people including myself......I think this is a major contradiction in the bible........God is not a contradictor! so why are they lying? is there something they don't want mankind to know?

I am not a very religious person. I believe there is a higher power for everyone but I am not sure that it is God. Since I have been pregnant (and I am only 6 1/2 weeks), I have been thinking alot about a baptism and finding a church. I guess it isn't that I dont believe in God, Im just not sure. Do you think that I would be a hypocrit for attending church and having my baby baptized even if I am unsure about my religious views. I just think "Oh Geez - what if I am wrong and damning my child" if I don't do it. Again, please no hateful replies. Spirituality is a journey that we all go on at different paces. I admire you if you are strong in your faith but please don't criticize me for not having that same resilience. I wish I just believed. I am thinking about my child though. My mom forced me to attend church until I was 16 so I feel like I have a good background and I think I want to give that to my child so he can make his own decision about religion. Thanks for your thoughts

I have been reading so many questions/comments here by Christians who absolutely refuse to acknowledge anything having to do with evolution. But here is an essay I read by a Christian man who teaches evolution at a Christian college.

http://community.berea.edu/scienceandfaith/essay05.asp

He is a scientist and he is explaining the basic concepts of evolution to his classes because most kids that go to school there were never allowed to be taught any of it growing up. One boy actually vomited when told he was going to have to learn these facts!

Do the Christians here think this man will go to hell for this? Does reading his information give you a better understanding of how things work? Or will you flatly refuse to even click the link because it might damage your faith?

I've been to Houston many times, but mainly while the RC was under renovation. I finally go to see it a few years back but I had to sweet talk my way in because they were setting up for a wedding reception. It was very loud in there and I couldn't really experience it the way I wanted to.
