What Labgrrl said. The Goddess sought me out, and when I went looking for the best religion to honor Her in, Wicca caught my attention.
The first book I read, as I recall, was "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" by Scott Cunningham. It provided everything I needed to get started living the religion on a daily basis, and is still the first book that I recommend to those approaching Wicca for the first time.

I already knew a bit about magick and I'd always been a strong environmentalist (sp?). Also, my Mom and older sister were Wiccan for awhile. You see, I wasn't raised Christian or Wiccan or any other religion. My parents left the decision up to me. I was on vacation in Oregon and my older sister found this really amazing book about Wicca and Mother Earth in this book/gift-shop. After my mom and sister enjoyed the book, I read it and fell in love with everything I read and learned. After that, I continued learning about Wicca and the Goddess and God through more books and some websites. I definitley knew that Wicca was and always would be my religion, it suited me perfectly. *Blessed Be*

First I met my gods. Then I went looking and met some Wiccans.
I must say I was very annoyed at my gods, as I was an atheist at the time.

At the time, I read a book about it and thought, "Hey, this makes more sense."
