I always try to be respectful when responding to questions regardless of anyone's beliefs.. yet seem to receive the worst abuse from so-called Christians. What is it with all this taunting and preaching?

If they don't want to know what we honestly believe - why do they invite it?

Sorry, maybe I just needed to get this off my chest.

I have defined my self as agnostic for a few years now. I was a raised in church and quite devoted to my church even as a teen. I went to youth group, went on mission trips, and attended every church service there was for almost four years.

That all changed when I went to off to college. I took a world religions class and religious philosophy class because I thought it would be interesting to look at different religions and I thought to be able to completely understand my religion I needed to have a better understanding of the different religions of the world.

After I took the classes, I saw the true reason for religion. And I grew to dislike the christianity faith. So i became agnostic.

I believe that there is a higher power, but that power is so indescribable that it cannot be written in a book or even be put into words. I also believe that the higher power exsists within and our ability to be good people.

If you used to be a christian, what made you change your mind?

Someone was telling me this, I just found it hard to believe. And then I saw on the Today Show this morning, this very religious family with 17 children and all the girls including the mother had this very long thick hair and they were all wearing those smock dresses that make you look completely shapeless. I guess this is what my friend was talking about.

Is it certain sects of Christianity or fundamentalists in general? Is it a widespread belief? Where does the belief stem from?

Here are some snips taken from an article posted in today's RRS newsletter:

The Murder of Larry Hooper

"On October 18, 2004, Arthur Shelton, a self described Christian and Eagle Scout, murdered his friend and roommate, Larry Hooper, because Hooper didn't believe in God."

"The trial began with the taped phone call Arthur Shelton placed to the Taylor police department in Taylor, Michigan, October 18, 2004, at precisely 12:44 AM. Shelton sounded calm and pridefull when he told the dispatcher he had just shot "the devil himself" with a revolver and a shotgun because "he (Hooper) didn't believe in God." Shelton told the dispatcher he was "still armed and ready to shoot again in case he moves. I want to make sure he's gone." When the dispatcher asked how many times he shot the victim Shelton replied, "hopefully enough."

Throughout the 15 minute phone call Shelton often repeated, "I'm a Christian and an Eagle Scout and I wouldn't lie," and "don't worry about me, I'm fine."

He was unsuccessful, of course, and was tortured for his part in the plot. Was this a worthy statement of resistance from the highest religious authority in pre-war Germany that helped post-war Germany?

Or could he have better served Germany by staying in New York where he had left shortly before the outbreak of WWII, to return to help reconstruct Germany and German Lutheranism?

What does this say to you? Anything new?

"During his life as both religious leader and statesman, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) showed great sensitivity and respect in dealing with the People of the Book, the Jews and the Christians. In the true spirit of divine revelation, the Holy Quran, with which he had been entrusted, Prophet Muhammad forbade harming non-Muslims and asked Muslims to treat them well. He once said, He who harms a Jew or a Christian will find me his opponent on the Day of Judgment."

Do you have a strong testimony of tithing? If so, can I hear it? I used to pay tithing very faithfully and had a strong testimony of it. Then we started having financial problems and it kind of fell by the wayside. I've been trying to start it up again, but seem to be really struggling with it. I could use a boost to get us back on track. Thanks!

I am sacred cuz its been going on for a while but I never use to understand what was going on but now its more clear and I can 'see' entire conversations and events and it comes to fulfillment like a few days after.

Eg: I was out shopping and I had this 'vision' [i dont know what to call these experiences] of my friend going on a plane to the states. He lives in another country from me.So i called him and asked him and he was shocked and asked me how I knew and I couldnt tell him.I was also able to tell him the state too and the date.He said he hadnt even told anyone and he had only thought about it the day before.

I can also give more egs which are pretty serious.Like once I was compelled to talk to this young woman who i dont know and I was quite busy that day and i found out that she was thinking about suicide and was wanting to talk to someone. It was scary.

Someone please tell me what is happening cuz I am beginning to feel like I am going crazy

1. Yesterday someone told me told me that you have to do something like seven years of missionary work for the JWs before you can even get baptized. Is this true?

2. I was also told that JWs believe that when you die, your body/soul/spirit just lays in the ground sleeping until the resurrection. Is this true? Do JWs not believe that the spirit and the body are separated at death?

In a meeting with Lord Irwin the British ambassador Ghandi was asked what would help the problems between India an Britain. Ghandi responded"when your country and mine shall get together on the teachings laid down by Christ in this sermon on the mount, we shall have solved the problems not only of our countries but those of the whole world." The teachings of Ghandi and those of Christ are good to follow even if you Don't believe in religion.

Please take no offence to your belief and faith. I have equal respect to all of you, irrespective of your faith and belief.

Why so many segments in Christianity in America? Baptist, Methodist, Episcopal, Presbyterian, Scientologist, Jehovah Witness, Seventh Day Administration and on and on…… I don’t even know so many in America.

I saw only “Catholic” in my country. I did not know even these names before I came to America.

P.S.
Please take no offence to your belief and faith. I have equal respect to all of you, irrespective of your faith and belief.
