No one really knows that that is true. The Bible doesn't make that statement. We will suffer "more" only in the sense that we will suffer longer in hell. Those that go to hell, personally I believe, will not have to bear the immense amount of suffering that Jesus bore on the cross. Jesus bore all of humanities sin at once, that's tens of billions (if not more) of lives of sins as well as the absence of God (hence Jesus saying on the cross, "My God, why have you forsaken me?") compared to what we will bear, which is only our own lifetime of sin and the absence of God. Again, it is worse only in that those in hell will bear less suffering, but it will be for eternity.
This is my opinion and I believe the majority of devout christains/catholics would agree.

When Jesus went to the Cross He took all our sins with Him, there are many of us and only One of Him to took our sins away, I think He suffered a lot more than any of us will. But I would not want to find out either...The ones who go to hell yes will suffer but think Jesus suffered more..

If you go to hell you will suffer because Jesus had the power and keys to life and death, and he was there to set captives free,,If you die with out him as your savior then you will go there as a prisoner and not like Jesus as a warrior, He layed down his life for just the purpose of defeating the enemy in his own ground..so that any one who didn't want to live there permitly can have a choice,,where they want to live
Read John 3;16 Jesus being the son of God,,who came to take the sins of the world..

The greatest suffering of Hell is realizing what a friggin' idiot you were on earth. You will understand just how many times you were led to the truth, and you will have to relive each moment of rejection again and again throughout eternity. You'll WANT to kick yourself for that.

Christ's suffering was temporary, as will any suffering be for His followers. However, for the unbelievers, their suffering will be eternal.

Christ took your punishment on the Cross...if you choose to bear it yourself by foolishly rejecting his offer....then you deserve to suffer,....for your own sins.
