Are they just missing the whole grace/redemption theme that permeates the entire New Testament? How do they interpret the Sermon on the Mount? The "monsters" and "animals" that are put on death row- do people who profess to be Christians genuinely believe that Jesus wants us to cut them down? Doesn't it mean anything to these people that St. Paul, the single most prolific and influential writer of the Christian Bible, was a redeemed murderer himself? Would he ideally have been killed before his conversion? If the Christian God is savvy at all, doesn't it seem likely that he specifically chose such an "evil" character to become his most powerful and eloquent promoter for a good reason? Or would God have us finally dispense with the Pauline letters altogether, hunker down, and memorize the gospels of O'Reilly, Limbaugh, and Hannity?

Would Jesus consider anyone beneath the opportunity for redemption?

Sisterzeal posted a question where she asked gays to answer honestly and then she gave the best answer to another gay basher. This makes me think she was just enjoying listening to herself and she wasn't willing to listen to the people she said she was questioning. Why?

I just answered a question asking why is Satan blamed for every thing that goes bad- and I answered Satan entices us however it is our own fault when we fall into sin. I really don't care that I get thumbs down- however it never ceases to amaze me that the word sin, gets people "riled" up- could that possibly be that people do not want to admit that they sin? I think so. Only serious answers please, or my theory will be proven right

To assume that it must be supernatural in origin just because you don't understand it or the reason has not yet been discovered?

Think about it.
If a man from five or six hundred years ago were to discover a modern-day automobile, chances are that he would assume it to be either magic or somehow demonic because he couldn't figure it out.

Isn't that the same kind of thinking that some Christians are doing today? Just because Science has not yet discovered the answers does not make it supernatural.

Do you get annoyed or frustrated when a theist on R&S asks a deeply complex science question that the greatest minds in the world haven't answered yet (ie: how did atoms come to exist?) and then expects a bunch of people on a message board with hardly any science background to answer it? And then they often belittle us when we're incapable of it?

To me, its like asking them to explain every part of their religion, even the parts that religious scholars don't fully understand yet?

According to Genesis 19, a gang of men want to have sex with two strangers in Lot's house. Lot comes out and says "don't be so wicked", thus defining the term "wicked" within the context.

The next thing Lot does is offer his two virgin daughters to the gang of men to appease them, saying "do whatever you will with them".

As this is the guy who just lectured a gang of men on what wickedness is, and he has two angels for house guests, we can assume this guy doesn't see anything "wicked" in his offering his daughters up to a gang of men to do with as they please, just as long as he gets some peace and quiet with his VIP guests.

Does God turn Lot into a pillar of salt for even suggesting this?

Apparently not. God actually saves this guy and spares a small city (Zoar) because Lot asks it of Him.

Who gets turned into salt?

Lot's wife.

Why?

Because she disobeyed God to turn around and look at the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Moral of the story?

(O.O)

My nan and her sisters are BIG god worshippers (christians). A few weeks ago my cousin and her girlfriend had a civil ceremony. I was really pleased for them because they have been together for a long time and are lovely women, but the families reaction was childish, they are disgusted and think that they did this just to spite them? The family are very level headed, loving, intelligent people but they have made themselves look stupid after their reaction and left me questioning what kind of people they really are.

I,m sorry to ask such a personal question and i know everyone has their own beliefs but the reason i,m asking is my personal situation is that awful i cant believe that any god would let it happen.I am pregnant with twins one baby has already died in early pregnancy and the other baby has a terminal condition that means if it is,nt stillborn it will die within days of being born.I,m continuing with my pregnancy as i know due to the condition my baby will not feel pain or suffer and i want to hold my baby even if it,s for a few minutes.I cant understand how any god would allow this to happen especially to a innocent baby who has,nt done anything to hurt anyone.I have never been a firm believer but did like to think we all went to a better place when we died now i dont know what to think .

I read a lot of questions about the Catholic Church. Here’s a little information: The word “Catholic” is not a name or a denomination, although in modern society it usually refers to us “Catholics”, or “Roman Catholics” if you like. It comes from the Greek word katolikos, a combination of kato & holos, meaning “pertaining to” “the whole”. The Bible speaks of individual churches in Corinth or Rome, but also speaks of THE Church – the Body of Christ. It is in this sense that the Church is Catholic - "Whole". The Catholic Church has existed since the time of Jesus. Every other Christian church is an offshoot of the Catholic Church. The Eastern Orthodox churches broke away from unity with the pope in 1054. The Protestant churches were established during the Reformation, which began in 1517. (Most of today’s Protestant churches are actually offshoots of the original Protestant offshoots.) That’s the short of it all. Comments anyone?

what makes you think there is no God? is it because there is a lot of evil in the world, hunger, poverty, crime etc. if so dont u think God would of created the devil to see how humans would react. dont u think God has created good and evil to see if which path we take? or is it simply, there is no proof. if so my response would be that humans, plants, animals, wildlife, the stars, moon, sun, earth, all natural things in life, is that not proof 2 you?
